So, yeah. I want a new mouse, and I've knocked it down to these two.

While I'm at it, is the Logitech G110 a good keyboard?

While RAK makes some salient points (as always) about the superiority of mechanical keyboards, I tend to go exactly the opposite route and think of keyboards as disposable items that, if you get one for $20, who cares if you fry it with heavy use, a Homestar-quality dose of Mountain Dew, or an accidental static discharge? Just forgo your pizza night that week and you're back level. Sure, you get what you pay for, but unless you're a Korean StarCraft champion, who cares about an extra millisecond response time?

Point being that RAK is right---"gaming keyboards" are a major marketing scam.

Now personally I tend to also feel the same about mice, but that's mainly because I have a 2006-issue stock wheel mouse from Dell with worn marks on both buttons from hundreds of thousands of clicks, but I've never had a more comfortable, more...familiar touch and equipment's as much about synergy with the user as with the equipment itself. Besides, I have small hands, and those "uber-gaming" mice tend to be made for the stereotypical big guy in mom's basement crowd---they're too bulky for my taste most of the time.

I got the G9x for Christmas and I can assure you it's quite the nice mouse. Being able to screw around with the DPI is cool, and I love backlit keyboards and mice, so having complete control over the color of the small lights is nice. The weight tuning didn't make a ton of difference to me, although I did weigh it down so that it was about the same weight as my previous mouse. At the same time, however, the switching between a regular clicking scroll wheel and one that just rolled made no difference to me, as, just as a matter of preference, I can't use the spinny one. Also, the thing itself is quite different in size from your average mouse, which are built for more casual use and the like. It does rather take a while to get used to using it. Losing that inch or so of surface area at the back really screwed up my grip for a day or so, as well.

As for keyboards, I'm really no expert. I currently have a G510 from Logitech, and it is all sorts of nice, but I also don't really spend a lot of time eating and drinking around it, so there isn't a huge chance of spillage or damage. The more expensive your keyboard gets, in general, the less easy it will be to be very casual around for fear of damaging it.

That being said, the G110 does look rather nice for the price, but do bear in mind what the people above said about it sort of being a scam, as it really can be unless the features are absolutely indispensable to you.
