Lolcats...ftw or epic fail?

I like cats and dogs. The general concensoius od that we all like pets of some sort. Now we have the internet fad of Lolcats and Loldogs. Some are funny, some are retarded. Do you like them? Have a Favorite?

On a side note, I like Lolcats, but it's destroying my girlfriend's grammar. She sends me text messages and even speaks in the form of "I can haz u tonite?" What do I do?

I hate the websites these pictures are hosted on, a quick glance at I can has Hotdog made me hate it for the way the writing was set out. Generally though, I can get a chuckle out of a good Lolcat.

Yeah, I'm all for intellectual pursuits and dislike the destruction of the language into nonsensical abbreviations, but hey, its just a bit of fun, take it easy, if you don't like, don't look, although that's hard if you have the kind of friends who'll spam anything they find online to everyone they know, I admit.

I always had the feeling that lolcats was making fun of that style of typing anyway, rather than glorifying it.

lolcats are less a fad as they are a meme. Think about "America's Funniest Home Videos" (for int'l users this TV Show are collections of videos sent in by users with 50% of entries where someone is hit in the groin, the other 50% is silly animal stuff). Anthropomorphizing pets something that has been around forever. During this process most creators of the character assign personality and most default the personality as 'relatively unintelligent'.

I am sometimes entertained by people using lolcat if in referential or ironic uses. I try to avoid the icanhascheezburger comments. They hurt my brain.
