London Has Fallen - And It Can't Get Back Up

I realise that this is just a dumb action movie but can somebody explain to me why when London is being blown up the only one who can save us is one random American?

Sure, it's not one random American. It's one bodyguard of the man whom the entire terrorist group is focused on trying to capture/kill. So obviously, it's going to give the guy a bit of a lead on the issue when all the bad guys keep coming to him, saves a lot of investigating time.

That said, if the character wasn't around, the plot would have wrapped up around the same time in the same place while being handled by the Brits (although they still have to wait for the NSA to find the bad guys for them, naturally). The only thing the random guy is directly responsible for is saving the President, London sorts out the larger issue itself.

That is actually not as bad as I expected. I figured it would be your typical 'Our City is being destroyed. Please save us mighty America' type thing. Thanks.

white house down was better? did i miss something? it was just below average at best. olympus was more enjoyable since i could take it a bit more serious than white house down. was it great? no but it wasnt bad either. it is pretty much die hard in the white house.
maybe i watch this new one or i simple wait for rental.

This review reminded me that I went into watching White House Down during an early morning of not sleeping for more than 24 hours metaphorically blind to how the movie would play out from just knowing who was directing the movie in the first place... and came out of it both really awake and still laughing at how insane the movie got with its various plot twist that, in a different movie, would have made it not as engaging as I wanted it to be given how serious the movie's in-universe took them at face value...

Other than that, if only we got a sequel to While House Down called Buckingham Palace Down or something...

So why no parody sequel to the serious sequel about a President under fire? I half-expected a "Parliament Floor Down" ""Guy Foxx Day"(get it?) or whatever modern tagline can fill that gap. Was Jamie Foxx busy with his music career or something? Not saying that it was a better movie, but these things usually come in pairs. For every "Deep Impact" there's an "Armageddon", every "Mission to Mars a "Red Planet" after all.

Guy Foxx Day sounds like a UK remake to The Purge...

I'm sorry, back up for a second. The vastly superior White House Down? What are you on and where can I get some? While a rather rote action flick, OhF still managed to be light years ahead of WHD. Arguably, WHD only really works if you consider it a parody of OhF.

I will give you the Olympus has Fallen had more intense action at the start but the opening attack was so long it became tedious for me. I also think that an action relies heavily on how interesting the villian is and James Woods and Clarke are both more charismatic then the faceless not North Koreans from the original Fallen film. I also found Butlers unrelenting head stabbing eventually became tedious.
