I am so damned upset that I have a 13+ hour flight ahead of me from the United States to Japan in a few hours. It's so annoying to have to go through customs, then get on a plane and fly for half of a day, then go through customs again as soon as we land.

Though, I am obviously not the only one who goes through this crap. How long was YOUR longest flight? How was it? How did you pass the time? I've had to travel back and forth from Japan to the US about 10 or 15 times over the last three years... so I can honestly say that passing the time gets pretty tough. Any suggestions?

I do have a portable game system, but you simply can't play it for that long of a time. Even if the battery actually held out for a whole 12 hours, focusing on a tiny screen for that long is torture.

My longest flight was from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur (on my way to Sydney) for about twelve hours. I got lucky and was seated between two other people heading to Australia, I split my time between watching a movie (and a half) talking to these two people and playing some games with them (the plane ahd those built-in nintendo thingies). On the way home I mostly just slept. I think the worst part was actually the stop-over in KL, nothing to do for 4 hours.

My flight was from California to Portland, Maine with several stops in New Jersey and New York.
It lasted 7 hours in the air and another 6 on the ground. Luckily I had my laptop with me as a carry on as well as a fresh DS with Final Fantasy 4 and Pokemon Emerald. My advice, game/read while you can and sleep the rest of the way.
