I suppose this gen pc gaming would be 2007ish til present as thats when the 360 came out.
i know on just last stand mode of dow2 chaos rising i have over 100 hours of last stand, add the 53 hours from the first one and time i spent on multiplayer (i dont do the campaigns as i despise space marines) its probably close to 200 hours on those 2 games lol but its all realy dow2 and an expansion so sort of counts...

looking back on this post iv done alot of pointless gaming over the last 3 years and should probabky be stopped. Its my mother fault for stopping me as a child.

GTA IV. I beat the single player twice
I beat it ten times so far.

I have no life.

I'd probably say GTA4 or one of the total wars. I've sunk hundreds of hours into Empires and almost one hundred into Shogun 2.
Hey man you're living and doing your thing. You have a life don't worry.
Aw, what a sweet answer. You're far too nice for this internet thing, you should go back to what you were doing before.

Don't sweat it, I have a very nerdy life, but I'm cool with that.
Ok good man. I heard that insult way too much growing up and it's a BS insult. I'm glad you're satisfied with yourself. If only more people were like you.
No sweat brother, I'm a nerdy scientist-come-programmer and I love my basement-dwelling lifestyle. You seem like a pretty swell guy. Let's be BFFs.
Agreed.
I think we may have inadvertently hijacked this thread. Who's the guy in your avatar, by the way? I recognise him.
Richard Feynman, he was a physicist who worked on the atomic bomb and did lots of other things, including winning a Nobel Prize. When I joined The Escapist I was going through an obsession with him because my dad lent me some audio tapes of one of his lectures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman
Knew it! I didn't want to hazard a guess in case I ended up looking like a cretin. Odd, I wonder where I saw his picture; physics is the only science I haven't taken beyond highschool.

So this thread hijack stays semi-relevant, how many, if any, hours of Fallout have you clocked? Apparently I've invested >100 hours so far.

EDIT: Typo... Very tired.

To be honest, I've only played about 2 hours of Fallout 3. A friend left it in my house and In really couldn't get into it so I just gave it back. You've outplayed me x50.

id say F1 2010. Doing each practice session, qualifying then only half race distance takes something like 4-5 hours per race. With 19 races per season, it eats up so much time. Although hopefully for my second season i wont have to spend so long in practice

Technically, I've outplayed you by a minimum of 50x! :p

That's a shame. It can be slow to start, but it's addictive as heck once you get going. The endless mantra of "Just one more level, there might be something cool around the corner" led to many, many sleepless nights.

Probably Dragon Age Origins Cuz I played thru it twice and pretty much watched my wife play thru it a third time. (well technically the second time)
After that probably Saints Row 2 which again, probably 2 Full playthrus and 1 wife playthru.
If you play as a chick in that game she comes off as a super butch lesbian.

Gotta be Oblivion, with all the DLC. Most games have "main quest" and "side quests". Noooooo, not oblivion. They have "side quests", and a "main quest", and then numerous OTHER "main quests". The Mage quest-line is long as hell. The MadGod "Strange Door" quest is also long as hell. I haven't even finished the fighter's guild line . . . nor have I started the thief or Dark Brotherhood quest line. I haven't even uncovered half the game already and I've been playing for over a month.

I've played about 330 hours of Mass Effect 2, mostly by playing it about ten times.

I need a life.

I was at Megaton and I started wandering around. I did thing where I snuck into an abandoned supermarket and raiders were there. I stealthed my way to all this stuff and then some kid came up to me needing help. He takes me to a town where spiders that shoot fire were like level 20 when I was like level 5. I get destroyed, rage quit, and never played again.

which is why most of us have 300 hours+ on oblivion :p mages guild isnt that bad, last mission of the thieves guild is a pain in the arse due to length, and sheogoraths quests are the funnest few hours of every playthrough "come back soon, or i'l pluck out your eyes!!" Genius =]

Yeah, Fallout really doesn't believe in giving lowbies a helping hand. Although, that's part of the fun. It's a Bethesda game where you actually have to go "OH SHIT! A DEATHCLAW!" and then run as fast as possible in the opposite direction, unlike most of their player-relative nonsense in Oblivion where you could defeat pretty much anything just as easily at any level.

Unless you accidently hit a unicorn in an attempt to kill a minotaur.

True, but that bastard is insane at whatever level you are. That was my main objection to Oblivion. Having been a giant Morrowind fan (hundreds and hundreds of hours, loads of mods created etc) I was hugely disappointed by their decision to do that level-relative NPC spawning. Bandits wearing Daedric armour, guards that can pose a challenge to me regardless of my level, rats that can quite easily kill my level 50 Deadric-clad super-warrior on harder difficulties. I missed Morrowind's clear level system. I missed charging around one hitting the guards whose hubris overcame their senses as they tried to arrest me.

It's a real shame, because that one feature wrecked (for me) an otherwise brilliant game.

Probably Oblivion, mostly because I didn't know about the fast travel for the first 2-3months i was playing it. I found out about it when I mentioned how I missed the mage guild teleports from Morrowind.

Sadly not having to run everywhere also made the game a little less fun.

Although New Vegas is getting up there if only because it keeps restarting my computer when it bugs out...

My problem with morrowind was by the end of the game when i had my super duper magic hammer and 100 blunt even the final boss died in 2 hits. Kind of a let down compared to vivec who raped me, wrapped my testicles around my neck and pimp slapped my until i cried.

That was until i went back with massive magic resistance, reflection and absorbtion and repaied the favour, and trapped his soul in a pretty star =]

I usually get bored fast with games, but for some reason I keep getting back to Minecraft. I haven't counted my online time, but judging by how different that Glacier map looks from when I started it, I'm thinking hundreds of hours.

However that doesn't even come close to my all time record playing Silent Hunter 3. One time, I played 36 hours straight and didn't even know it, one day just erased from my memory :) Heck, I even used to keep it on normal time and go to sleep with that ambient submarine sound running round all night long. Patrol after patrol, I must've played it 1000 hours or more. And I still play a patrol from time to time...
