I think loading Shogun 2 on my old computer before I upgraded was pretty damn close to the longest. It took that thing like 5-10 minutes just to load up.
More recently though, I purchased Stalker: Call of Pripyat and am having issues with loads even on a blazing PC with a fast HD. The prefetching for a save game takes forever. There is even a massive delay between loading the menu and going back to the game.

Fear 1 running on a external hard drive through a USB 1 port
It took at least 5 minutes to load a level.

A friend of mine once took 15 minutes to load each level of Max Payne 1

The worst offender for me would have to be Alpha Protocol.
But even that was only just 2 minutes tops.

Look up a video of Euthanasia (video game). The loading times are shocking and I have a shit computer so it took me 15 minutes to start and it didn't work when I got into the second room.

I guess the longest load time i had was Fur fighter for the ps2 literally 9-12 long minutes on the loading screen with that same looping music

Medieval Total War, yeah the first one. This was when the computer I was playing in on was only just able to. By the end of a full campaign it really start to struggle loading a saved game. Used to start loading it then either take a shower or get some food as it would take a good 10 mins or so to get into it.

*Cheers*
Mine was in one of my first PS2 games called Rune. Would load for at least 15 minutes, and if I recall correctly there were quite a lot of loading screens in that game.
Eventually returned it to the store and got my money back since they didn't have another copy. <3

Back in early 2006 I played World of Warcraft on a crummy old laptop with 256mb RAM, of which 32 was shared VRAM. Loading the game took roughly 20 minutes and I feared even the thought of entering a city.

Good times.

Unreal 2: The Awakening. The game was a graphic whore and my computer was not up to spec.

Trying to run a 2003 game on a 1999 computer required a lot of patients.

Huh, wow, whenever a game takes more than 2 minutes, I resort to either ending its process (PC), or resetting the console (console).

So, I guess, 2 minutes. The longest time I regularly put up with would have to be this computer I'm on. Takes about 50 seconds, that's way too long by my standards, other PC does 15.

Oh yeah! Pop in Sid Meiers Pirates in the deck, load'*',8,1 and run. Go off to make a hot chocolate and maybe a sandwich and you should be golden by the time you get back.....
pssst... that's the load-from-disc command. The one for cassettes is load'*',1,1.

Tho, and this must be noted... the c64 disk drive was NOTORIOUSLY slow and noisy. For some games cassette was honestly faster.

For some reason I miss poke54638,0 to make my screen black.

Yup, that sounds about right.

For me it's Operation Wolf for my ZX Spectrum - 30 mins. I used to come home from school, set it off and then go downstairs for my dinner. If I ate at a leisurely pace, and washed up afterwards, it was occasionally loaded when I got back up to my room.

Ah, tape loaders. Technology at the cutting edge. At the time, anyway.
