The question is simple: could you recommend me some games that last long and/or have a large replay value? (No JRPGs, thanks)

Fallout 3 and Civilization Revolution kept me happy for 8 months.... Fallout is long and Civ has high replay value.

I don't have a PS3, but Fallout is on both and that has kept me entertained for a long time.

I'd reckon Uncharted 2 will keep you entertained for long. I played the closed multiplayer beta and altough I'm not a heavy multiplayer person: I loved it.

MGS 4 has a rather low replay value on single player but shines in MGO.

Little Big Planet is also fun to pick up every few weeks and check out some new user made content.

Fight Night Round 4 is excellent in online. I love boxing and this came close to being a realistic sport-sim with excellent physics engine. I guess if you aren't a fan of boxing it's not so great.

Lastly, Rag Doll Kung-Fu: Fists of Plastic. Don't let the reviews fool you, if you manage to get 4 players in local deathmatches it is a blast. Awesome fun like in the old days when it wasn't all about stupid, emotionless online multiplayer. Great capture-the-flag style game by catching and throwing a fish around. Awesome PSN game that also works perfectly as a drinking game. Best themesong ever.

Fallout 3, and if you like Multi-player Call of Duty 4 is the only game I bought with a system that I'm still playing.

I know it's not an exclusive, but Street Fighter 4.
If you haven't made up your mind about fighting games from firsthand experience, play it, and end up liking it, you'll have a HUGE replay value.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion (although I recommend Oblivion for PC)
LBP, and Civilization Revolutions are good choices

Resistance 2 is pretty good, and the multi-player can hook you. When I last played, it had a strong online community, and it probably still does. And also what others have said.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition should keep you occupied for quite a while.
And if you like that, you can look forward Fallout: New Vegas.
Oblivion was also quite good.

Hmm, I too have a ps3 and would like some good ps3 games. Rather sick of people recommending PC games though (it will be a cold day in hell before I buy any bethesda game, or generic FPS on console). So far I have LBP, MGS4, GTA4, GT5:prelude and Grid (no acronym here *sadface*), I intend to get brutal legend when it is released here (though I may get it on xbox, still undecided but leaning towards playstation for the less shit online). I'm cosnidering getting (hiring first) reistance 2 (despite my hatred of generic console games on consoles) purely because it seems to get so many people vouching for it, but really I want platformers (uncharted and sequal are on my to buy list) or racing games (c'mon GT:5), so...yeah, I'll also keep an eye on this thread for solid suggestions.

Trying not to hijack but this is along the same lines, what ps3 exclusives have strong online communities?

Their's your strong online communities.
As many have stated Fallout is excelent and all the DLC's are finaly out on the PS3. As with exclusives that I have yet to see are Warhawk(which is a third person shooter with battles on the scale of Battlefield), and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue(A racer that I bought the PS3 for). Also Uncharted:Drake's Fortune which if you change the voice actors language could earn it some more playthoughs.

If you want a platformer I would get Ratchet and Clank. It's a $30 game with about 12 hours of gameplay. I suppose you could replay it focusing on different weapons if you wanted to, but its well worth the money.

Civ. Revolutions is a great game! It's fun to play and you don't really get bored of it. inFamous's fun value may run out after a while. I'd suggest a game heavy in multiplayer, that way if you get bored of campaign, you can just play some multiplayer.
