I'm looking for a book I read a few years ago. It was set in Wales or Ireland, in the present, and the main character was a teenage boy who was also an excellent violin player. His family used to be one of the wealthier ones in the region, and so was able to hold regular dances even when the church tried to ban them by forbidding the charging of an entrance fee. The boys grandfather is accused of murdering the village priest. The boy finds a portal into the realm of welsh / irish mythology, a place where time supposedly doesn't exist. However, it turns out that time has begun to pass in that land, which is a problem because the eternal youth of the inhabitants was based on there being no time. The reason the boy goes through the portal was that in his world, time was passing too fast, so people were always rushed.
He finds that the problem is caused by the priest his grandfather was supposed to have killed, who held a flute through the portal, and time could flow through the hole in the middle of the flute. The boy tricks him into believing that its already night in the faerie world and pushes him through to the real world where he dies (I think, not sure on that part). And then of course time is restored to its proper place and all is well.
I also remember that at the beginning of each chapter, there was a short one-line tune, and that the title was something with "postman"
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd really like to read it again, but I've forgotten the title
