Looking for a Free Design Program

As the subject suggests, I'm looking for a free design/layout program, even if it's just a X-day demo I can actually print stuff with.

I'm particularly looking for something for Windows, with the convenience and tools of programs like Quark or In Design, and certainly something that's not nearly as broken as Smart Draw (the whole reason I'm posting this).

I think google has a program called "Google sketchup" I tried it and it works pretty well, its also free.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately after looking into it, it's a model building program rather than a page layout program.
