You would probably be the only person I would recommend the Harvey Birdman game to. It's kind of like one of those choose your path books and it's kind of funny.

Infamous is pretty well written and has quite a few choose your path moments that really end up changing the game.
Same with Bethesda Games: Fallout 3, Oblivion.

You may also want to check out some of the Japanese Dating Sim type games if you don't mind x rated entertainment. Some of them are actually pretty good... well, entertaining.

I'd recommend Masq.
It's a free-to-download game that plays out exactly like a choose-your own adventure book. There are literaly hundreds of different ways for the story to end. I suggest to try it.

So I'm not only a fan of games but also of books. I'm looking for a game that is well written rather then well acted. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy good CS and what not but I'm a bit nostalgic for an old timey text story. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be a console game or anything like that. I'm even interested in user made "Build your own RPG" type of thing.
Also, are there any games like the old build your adventure kind of books from when we were all young. You know... "Turn to page 48 if you want to dangle on the cliff helplessly or turn to page 102 if you want to fall and flap your arms like a bird." Kind of thing.
Basically I'm looking for something a bit less mainstream and a bit more creative.

You sound like you might be one of the few of us left who could really enjoy Interactive Fiction. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it's what used to be called Text Adventure games. Don't let the stigma put you off, though, things have changed a *lot* since the dark old days most people remember.
