Looking for a game

I am currenly in a sort of gamers block, my friends and I are all pc gamers and we are looking for something new to play that can get us out of this rut. Spending money isn't a big deal to us (subscriptions are a deal breaker) but we can seriously find nothing to play!

Specifications:
*We need the game to be at least somewhat open world or have some sort of adventuring implemented
*Specialties/classes/roles, even if it means we do it ourselves ARMA squad style, it just has to be present somewhat.
*combat must be somewhat active, we're done with WoW styled combat.

Played that to, well be sure to add it to the list. Keep to the specifications listed please, dun def isn't really open world at all or have any sort of adventuring element. Appreciate the suggestion though.

Magicka is a good one, and if you don't mind a bit of hassle you should really try Alien swarm, it was a great game back in the day but now that it's died down there's barely any servers so you're gunna have to host your own or LAN, not so sure since it's been a while since I played it.

Alienswarm was fun for awhile but not really something you can get invested in for long periods.

Now I feel obligated to recommend something else...
Have you played Natural Selection 2? I remember the first one, back in the days when it was a HL mod, tons of fun. Especially if you play it with quality people, willing to play as a team.

Magicka is an absolute fucking laugh. My friends all suck balls at casting so they got owned alot. It was pretty damn funny to watch them get sent flying by trolls and their own spells.

Hrm, I actually have a game design that I eventually want to make that sounds like it would fit within your criteria. I think it's similar in design to Undead Lab's project.

But... I haven't made it yet.
