I have to ask why you're intent on a laptop rather than a desktop; money goes much farther on a tower, especially if you're willing to assemble it yourself.
If its your personal preference, or you're not interested in investing all the time involved in computer assembly, then despite what a lot of people around here may say, that's fine. Its your personal preference and your personal ideal computing experience.
But for that price... you're not going to get a gaming laptop, you're going to just get a laptop, I can tell you that much. The concept of a "Gaming laptop" really isn't too much of a thing until you're shelling out around $1000, and even then, you're going to be paying a premium for that label.
All I can really suggest you do is to look for laptop models with decent specs and a newer graphics card, as you probably aren't going to be upgrading that part of the computer. However, you should note that RAM is really easy to install, and its generally better to buy RAM on your own than to buy more RAM with the computer itself.
Also, think about screen size. If you're willing to sacrifice a few inches, you can shave a lot off the price tag.
Good luck!
And sorry for not speaking up about particular models, but my current knowledge on computer hardware is oriented specifically towards hardware that can run OSX; I'm either sticking with Macbooks or running a Hackintosh. (Yes, there are legal ways of doing this)
I just... can't go back to PC. Not as my primary computing experience. It makes me scream after prolonged exposure. But you go and enjoy your Windows, nothing wrong with that.
