Hey, fellow escapists! I'm looking for a new game to play on my PC. I'm kind of in a gaming lull and would like something to fill time in between now and AC III. I'm not super picky and as a result I've played quite a bit. But throw your best suggestions out and hopefully I'll find something to play pretty quick. Thanks everyone!

Dishonored
Borderlands 2
Mark of the Ninja
Retro City Rampage
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (on the 30th)
I've been dabbling in Dishonored and BL2 and not really enjoying either. I played Mark on my 360 and loved it. The visual aesthetic was what got me into that one. RCR looks.... bad. Any insight on that? How does it play? And with Hot Pursuit coming the same day ACIII comes out on consoles... I won't be getting that. Anything kind of experiential like Journey on PC? It's not my main gaming system so I'm kinda in the dark.

I already have dungeon defenders. I got hooked on that around it's release and got a couple buddies of mine hooked recently. I have a vita so maybe i'll check out a demo there

Umm... without any guidelines to go by... Witcher 2? Damned good game, definitely worth playing. Probably also the best looking game I've ever seen too, seriously gorgeous.

Aside from that. Erm. XCOM? Torchlight 2? They're good if you're into those sorts of games.

here's info about Retro city rampage: To bad you don't like Dishonored. I loved it.

What was it about Dishonored you liked? I find the game very limiting. It's extremely punishing if you aren't undetected and the combat seems to be geared specifically for that purpose. The block/counter system seems broken and I find that extremely disappointing, especially after the rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

The combat isn't all that hard. I took on almost all the guards on a level, twice. I liked the story, it wasn't great but the low-chaos ending just makes you feel so good. Also it is fun as hell to watch someone to get devoured by rats, but if you find combat hard just get time slow. I also loved the stealth. It is satisfying to sneak past everyone without being seen and it is nice that you aren't fucked if you screw up, even when I got into combat on my low-chaos run I would either beat them or let myself get killed it was very rare I got overwhelmed. Also it was fun blinking around, seriously best ability EVER! Plus it was a stealth game for people that love stealth but suck at it(ie. me).

Don't get sleeping dogs. Its got those long kill cut scenes, and is not fluid like Assassin Creed. I said Borderlands 2, or Dishonored.

Kind of an older game, but I recently got Deus Ex: Human Revolution as a gift and have enjoyed it thoroughly.

Currently $20 on Steam

I'm not sure what you're exactly into, but since you've said you're not picky, I'll throw a few your way.

Chivalry:Medieval Warfare. A great multiplayer game that was just released on Steam for 25 bucks.

Alien Vs. Predator. By no means a great game, but I like it enough to warrant a playthrough and it's only 15 bucks at this point.

Sniper Elite V2 is a lot of fun, but it's 50 bucks still.

The Walking Dead by Telltale games. Only 25 bucks and you'll get ALOT of playtime out of it. Episode 5 will be released in 2 months I've heard and it comes free once you buy the game. =)

I've made Let's Plays of all of these on the youtube, so if you're interested and want a look at them, just visit my profile. Just another look for you at the games if you don't want to take people's words on these games and need to see them played.

Well, I'd start with pretty much anything from Valve. That's usually the go-to developer for PC games. Stuff like Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike.

Other suggestions? Umm...

Serious Sam series
Rayman Origins
Psychonaughts
[Prototype]
Super Meat Boy
Alan Wake
Geometry Wars
Lost Planet
The Elder Scrolls V
Arma II
Demons Souls
Dark Souls
Borderlands
Doom 3: BFG Edition
Amnesia series (or it will be when Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs comes out)
Sonic...
-the Hedgehog
-the Hedgehog 2
-CD
-3 & Knuckles
-Adventure
-Adventure 2 (coming on Steam in a few months)
-Heroes
-Riders

Head over to GOG, pick a genre, and look at the list of highest rated games for any that pique your interest.
Almost all great PC games of the last 15 years are there, I guarantee you'll find a game you'll like.

I actually did end up getting Sleeping Dogs and XCom: Enemy Unknown. I really like Sleeping Dogs. Long cut scenes don't bother me one bit. I actually think the story is presented very well and it's got me hooked for now. XCom is the challenging kind of strategy title I like. It reminds me of Fire Emblem (which I still have on my GBA) and XCom really tickles my sci-fi fancy.

If you're looking something like Journey I'd recommend Bastion. Its not really the same type of game but the overall feel is amazing and the story is great. Its not too long so you'll most likely be done it rather soon if youre just looking for something to tie you over for a week.

Here have a trailer:
