This is quasi advice, but its gaming related.

A friend of mine and I like to play WarCraft 3 over lan, on a simple custom map we call 'ships' (There are several variations on a base map called 'Battleships' made by a guy called Skid). It's nice and simple, not a great deal of resource gathering, it runs only on gold, you harvest two lanes of ships from the aposing empire, which both players have on their side, and when left alone they perfectly cancel each other out, and are automatically generated.

Now, I'm trying to find a new strategy game to compliment this one, which surprisingly doesn't get old at all, but you play 1-2 games which are often 60 minutes long, and that's it, so adding something else would be good.

All that it required is, that it can be played over LAN, be a good game for 2 players, is simple and basic (no harvesting wood, and building lots of defenses or anything like that), and hopefully (slightly optional) is relatively cheap.

Oh, and not Demigod please, it's very similar to the ships game, but I find it not quite as pleasing.

You could try Sins of a Solar Empire, but be ready for a long haul. Large scale games can last upwards of Twelve Hours, when you are managing several thousand ships, dozens of planets and up to five separate Star Systems.

R.U.S.E sounds some what up your alley

It's a ww2 strategy game with only one resource to manage, the strategy is more about fooling your opponent then extreme micro

Sins of a Solar empire is probably the opposite of what I was looking for but thanks anyway.

RUSE and extreme micro, we do use a little bit of micro in our current game, but only with one unit, so its manageable.

Hmm, need more.
