Hello everyone, I'm looking for an audio recorder that can record sound from Youtube or just from my speakers. Other people I asked said to use Audacity, but for some reason I'm unable to record from my speakers. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

The last one I tried was some fake anti-virus that really bugged up my computer. So please give me one you have tested yourself.

.Wav format is preferred.

Thanks in advance

You can't record from your speakers, you have to record directly from the sound card before the speakers. Just a small correction.

Also why would you want to record sound from Youtube when you can just rip the .wavs from it?

Rip it and extract the sound files. I cannot tell you how as it is against youtube's TOS but I can tell you that this would be the most logical route to take.

Last time I tried to rip files it told me to enter the URL and download it, then I ended up with the fake anti-virus. :(

I thought it would be easier to just record it, if possible.

It most definitely would not be easier to just record it.

Get firefox and get the "video downloadhelper" (there is no space between download and helper)

This is an add on (I assume you know about the add ons in firefox). It will help you download the video from youtube. Then you can use another program (such as a video editor - e.g. Sony Vegas. I don't know what other video editors are like but there should be a free one out there that will do it. Movie maker might actually do it but I don't know if it outputs audio only or not. Also: Sony Vegas might have a trial period before activating it but, I can't remember) to extract the sound from the video.
