Hey guys - I recently finished "Katawa Shoujo" which is probably the greatest thing i have ever had the chance of reading/watching and listening too. I haven't read such a high quality piece of work in quite some time. I'm among those that were inspired by it. I am looking for a new visual novel to look into getting. I don't mind if I have to pay for it as long as its not super duper expensive. =P (Prefer buy & download)

I like the genres "slice of life" and "romance" things like high school dramas or love life stories really interest me. I'm not in the market for anything like 999 on the DS however, that's not my style of VN. I dont mind if its on PSP, DS or PC or PS3. But if anyone can recommend be some long or well written VN's then I would be greatly appreciative. I don't care if it has adult content or anything bad in it as long as its not over the top and is an over all loving, fun to read experience.

It's kinda hard to find a good visual novel to back up what Katawa Shoujo gave to me mentally - it was just the greatest. But I really can't find any VN's to continue reading now that my supply has run dry.

Thanks for any recommendations.
(I already have Clannad and am not interested in Fate Stay Night)

Katawa Shoujo is the one with all the disabled/handicapped heroines, correct? Been hearing/reading great things about it lately.

If you want something along the same lines, you might look into a little VN called Kana: Little Sister, if you haven't already. Yes, it's about incest, but don't let that scare you away. It probably gave me the same experience years ago that you got out of Katawa Shoujo. Really, it's so moving and sad, that even I shed a few tears when... I'm not going to spoil it. Anyway, it's awesome. I read somewhere someone called it "The Frampton Comes Alive of video games." I'm inclined to agree.

Comparatively, it's a bare-bones visual novel. It was released in 1999. There isn't even a voice-over in the version I got. You do get a copy of the soundtrack, though. And it is actually really, really good. Especially the theme song. Like Meat Loaf rock ballad awesome.

You could also give Snow Sakura a look while you're at it. It's from the makers of Kana, but is a lighter romantic comedy. Not as life changing, but still pretty good.

Both of them have adult content, but it's all pretty tame. That is, in a relative sense - And unintentional pun makes it in! - You could do worse (Or better?) in that department.

I don't know if you can download them from anywhere legally, but RightStuf has them both in stock. Not sure if "Super-Duper Expensive," that's up to you.

I feel kind of dirty now. Just a bit.

Thanks Tautology, I'll give them a look. I'll probably end up making a list of VN's to look at buying if I get any more replies. That Kana: Little Sister seems pretty out there but if its any indication by your post - it's worth looking at.
