So, I'm looking for some new music. And my own knowledge of all the bands out there is very limited. What I'm looking for is something like these songs:

Muse - Uprising
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Epica - The last Crusade
Rolling Stones - Paint it black

Music with a nice rhythm in it, something to mellow out on. Not too soft, and not too hard. Any suggestions?

I'll try to give a few suggestions. Note that I'm mostly a metal guy, but I hope that some of these fit your tastes.

Ayreon. A group I would recommend to pretty much anyone. Notable for using a large amount of singers and styles.

Machinae Supremacy. They make a lot of music that's video game related, and they deserve way more recognition than they get.

Delain. Their third album is maybe the closest to what you're looking for of what I'm listing. I dunno, they're pretty good, you should check them out.

Devin Townsend. Has done such a wide variety of high quality stuff that it's almost impossible to not find something by him that you like.

Elvenking. They have some metal stuff that's pretty good, but they're (mostly) accoustic album is just incredible.

That's about all I have for now. I hope you find something in there that you like.

Heh, I'm mostly a metal guy as well. But every now and then I'd rather listen to something a bit more smooth. Anyway, Delain I already know. I like all of their albums. Even went to a concert in my home town once. Ayreon sounds great for what I'm looking for. The others, while nice, aren't. I'll still keep them in mind for later though. :)

I don't see how that is similar to what I listed. ^^;; I appreciate the suggestion though.

Well going on that line and what you suggest that is pretty much Springsteen in a nut shell,

However if you like MUSE you may like Air Traffic, A very underrated band who never got the attention they deserved in the UK

I hear a distinct difference. ^^;; Though that band Air Traffic fits right with what I had in mind. :)

EDIT:
Also, the hell...? A warning for your other post here? It was short, yes. But it definitely contributed to the thread. o_O

Not sure if this fits in with your list, but check out The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow, or maybe Tab Benoit - Darkness, if you're looking for something on the smoother side.

Haha I was surprised myself, Air Traffic are a very good band but they never get any coverage so they split up.
