Looking To Get Back Into WoW

For certain reasons, after a 3 month leave I'll be activating my WoW account again.
Well after enjoying a nice weekend down the country I came home to an interesing E-Mail. Seems someone's been tampering with my account it says. Seeing as I hadn't played since Febuary, I paid no heed. Of course the next day I notice my account's been locked and I start to care a little bit more, I may not play anymore but there's some memories in that account. So I hop onto my armory and yes I have been hacked (My helmet graphic was turned on, I never do that) but then there was a sick feeling in my stomach.
I was no longer in my guild.
Turns out the hacker ran rampant on the guildbank in the short space he could, and as a counter measure I was kicked out.
Now I don't mind what you do to my character (To an extent), but you do not mess with my guild. They're a lovely bunch of people and I'd hate for ill to befall them.
So! In order to pay for this I'm grabbing myself a 60 day gamecard to log on and give everything (or as much as I can) back.

Basically, I'll have 60 days of WoW available with nothing really to do with them. So the fine community of escapist I ask you, can you help me use that time? Is there anyone who can suggest a fun realm to play on or perhaps a nice guild to join? Would anyone interested in WoW care to avail of my recruit a friend system and enjoy playing the game while getting me back into it? What I love most about WoW is the social aspect of it, and I'd not want these 60 days to go to waste. So my WoW escapists, is there anyone there to take in an old hunter who's looking to ignite the spark once more?

Er EU right? I play on Emerald Dream Horde casually (well casually by average WoW standards, Hardcore by Emerald Dreams sleepy in-expectations I suppose).

Make a new character, see if you can create some new friends, I always enjoy that aspect, but my guild on this realm is just too nice to let go of, so I've stuck here for over a year now. Emerald Dream is Alliance heavy so the horde tend to be a laugh to play with.

Do you know for sure if that actually happened? Because I dont even have a wow account and I get about a dozen of those emails a week talking about how my account info has changed or that my wow account is going to be locked forever.

My advise to you is do not go back.
Why shouldn't he go back?
And just go to the Blizzard site they have a place where you can report a hack and they should return everything

Yeah I know for a fact I've been hacked, my helmet graphics were turned on, my guild leader told me I had logged on and taken things from the guild bank and my activity feed showed I made progress on an achievement about 2 days ago, whereas the previous activity to that was about 3 months ago.
And it's not so much that I want to go back, but I want to make ammends with the guild, but I can buy 1 day's worth of time so I'll have 60 days free to use, and they might as well do something.

Well you have to consider why you quit the game in the first place and what going back to that will mean. Also there is nothing you can really do about your character stealing stuff from your guilds bank.
I know the hacker didn't sell most of the stuff, so I can give it back, and assuming he didn't do anything with all the gold I have I can just buy the stuff again.
As for why I left it was for a number of reasons, I wasn't raiding as much, money was tight at the time and I had a lot of college work now. Now it's the summer, there's a new raid patch coming and I've actually got some income for it, and while I do drift in and out of playing WoW, I ultimately do enjoy it.

WoW oldtimer here. Played since launch. I was in one of my realm's top-ten raiding guilds up through Wrath of the Lich King. I had a level 80 of each class, all of which geared up to entry-level raiding at the very least.

Cataclysm came out. I leveled my healing main and my ranged DPS main to 85, geared them both up to entry-level for raiding. I typically healed for the guild, and believe it or not, I actually liked the changes made to mana management. So anyway, I got into raiding, and I just really didn't feel very engaged by it. Sure, we were having reasonable success with it as always, I just wasn't having as much fun with it as I used to. So I helped find and train a replacement healer, got contact information for the people in the guild I was close to, said my farewells, and canceled my subscription.

It's been a few months now. The first time in years that I've gone this long without playing WoW. All I can say is... it feels really goddamn good. There are so many great games that came out that I never played because I was too busy with WoW, and I'm enjoying every moment of getting caught up on them. And I'm having way more fun with them, even the ones that I don't particularly care for, than I was having with WoW.

Seriously, do yourself a favor... don't go back. After those 60 days, don't continue. That game is soul-consuming. And the worst part is that I know it's gonna happen all over again with Titan.

DON'T DO IT, DONT GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT!!! WE CAN STILL SAVE YOU, JUST HOLD OOOOON!!!

Sorry 'bout that, seems that I got a bit carried away there for a second. Seriously though, isn't it better to stay clean, you have held out so long.

P.S, joking of course, but I can only imagine that you'd get addicted by WoW, I never played it myself though

When I first started playing I'll admit, I was quite hooked, bringing it with me on holidays to Portugal and America, but those days are behind me. Cataclysm I played a fair bit because I wanted to catch up and raid with the guild, but once I got there I played it for maybe 10 hours a week. Comparitively, I can play 10 hours of TF2 or Aquaria or any other game I own in a day, yet know when to stop playing.
It's only a game, and I know that now so don't worry!
