On Wednesday, April 21, my Mother passed away. It's been hard, of course, but I am dealing with it a little better now. I wanted to make this thread a place for anyone who has lost someone close to them - a place where you can find or share ways to help cope, share thoughts or memories of your loved ones, anything that will help you.

It may not sound very helpful now, but one thing I've found is that things will be better in time (this is true for a lot of things, I think) - I'm doing better already after a fairly short time, but it will still be a good while before I'm near to how I was before. But I know it will get better.

And also, do your best to remember the good times - try to focus on the positive memories, not any sickness or negative situations leading up to the end. And try to take comfort in the fact that any suffering is at an end, and that they're at peace now.

Thank you, guys

RIP Mom, I'll always love you :D

Ouch man, I cant bear to think what you're going through. You could say, Your mother just won the game.

I havent really had to deal with death, And i dont deal with it well...or shall i say, i deal with it in a wierd way.

Making jokes at a funeral is ALWAYS a bad thing to do. I cant help it, I cant stand the sadness.

My brother died a few years back, he was a great kid who was taken away so young. But I never really was known to let things affect me personally. I remember like after a week I was back into my normal happy mood but...I'm sure it's different with your mom. I'm not emotionless but, I'm almost never not happy. Some people may call me selfish, even heartless. However, ask anyone of my close friends who they think is a nice guy ,and I can guarantee that they will say im the nicest guy in the world.

I think I understand what you mean - I've always found it pretty easy to push any negative thoughts or feelings aside and "make" myself more happy - or at least appear to be happy. I don't want to make others around me be affected by my mood. It was hard for awhile after my mother went, but I was able to do that eventually, to help out my sister and grandfather.
