I keep searching google for links to people who have ever been completely lost in space due to a malfunction, but can't seem to find any, so escapists, has anyone ever been...lost in space? Never to return? And what would you do if you were lost in space?

Me personally, I would find some way to save the ship, even if it meant risking my life. Just kidding I'd find the closest thing and hump it while I cry.

I'd take all the women and gather them up and have my way with them. Afterwards i'd pilot the ship a viable signal location and radio the towers.

This is the only case I can really remember hearing of, it's somewhat unproven but it was at a time where the Soviets were pretty quiet about their space program. We'll probably never know anyway, unless we stumble onto a Russian ship orbiting Saturn or something.

Historically no there hasn't been anyone left in space, and NASA has never had anyone die in space yet(don't know about Russia). And I would rather shoot myself then be stuck out there slowly freezing to death.

if your looking for people who are lost in space, watch the movie or hang around out around a mental hospital. As for what i would do well... after my spastic freak out i would see were i am and find out A. where earth is and try to get to. B. Find a nearby planet that can sustain life and send out a SOS while i crash there for awhile

Nobody has ever been lost in space as far as I know. And I know. If I were lost in space personally, I'd probably kill myself. Depressurize the ship or something.

head to the nearest star, there might be a habbitable planet...
That would take years. Maybe even decades.
Try longer.
Try longer than longer than longer.

And after all that, the chances of finding a habitable planet are still next to nothing.

And you wouldn't be able to control your movement to get to it. Not to mention dieing when you rocket to the surface.

And how light speed would mess up the universe.

You might find this interesting. There's a small possibility that there were "lost cosmonauts", courtesy of Soviet Union who were notorious for covering up information and even destroying evidence.

Frankly, it'd suck to be stuck in space. And you wouldn't last long, our ships aren't exactly designed for long-term space flight. Wouldn't take long for oxygen and food supplies to run out, not to mention fuel, and then you're fucked.

So with any realistic technology, you're fucked. But then again, with our technology it'd be pretty hard to get far enough from Earth to be exactly "lost", but if you'd have some technical difficulty and be unable to return, it would suck just as bad.

And if we're talking sci-fi here, well, imagination is the only restraint. If you're capable of traveling between star systems without dying of old age, either through some kind of stasis/freezing or generic FTL travel, as long as your ship's working you aren't doing that bad unless supplies run out (but if we're talking sci-fi, that can be very flexible, too). If your main transportation method is fucked, then the stasis type of fictional spaceship is probably your best bet - freeze yourself, place some makeshift beacon, and see if you'll ever be found. Which can be 10000000000 years in the future or never. But still arguably better then death of starvation, asphyxiation, or cold. Or not, I dunno.

Of course, I have to say, the above paragraph is purely fictional.

Anything can be female if you hump it hard enough. 8D
