Why in God's name would anyone pick the lost numbers for the lottery?

I mean just say you hit the jackpot. You know loads of people picked it, so the reward is minuscule by comparison!

Great. Now prove that this is actually statistically significant, and not some dumb thing because of the huge amount of people being in such a lottery, the frankly disturbing amounts of lotteries and a bunch of other factors I'm forgetting right now. If that happens to be true, then I'll be impressed.

The worst thing is you now can't tell these people they're idiots for that because they'll counter it did win them $150.

As a gigantic LOST fan(I was nowhere near as unhappy with the series finale as I probably should have been. I even liked it.), this pretty much makes my day. Awesome.
As a proper Lost fan you understood that ultimately the show was character-driven, and that the mysteries were secondary to the characters as a way of testing them and driving them through their respective arcs.

(Also, I haz theory on Walt - at least as to why he's "special", not some of the other stuff - which seems to be the biggest thing people complain about not being answered. )

OT: But Hurley isn't cursed, not really, Jacob said so!
Exactly! Besides, a lot of the stuff that hear people complain about not being explained really was, just not directly. You had to put some pieces together yourself.

Walt really was a cop-out, though. I'm surprised they didn't bring him back after the whole "3 years later" thing. His age would have made sense after that!
Well, I think he'd been out of it for so long that it would have felt like he was dragged back in just for the purpose of explaining it, as opposed to any actual need for the character.
