Lost pets...

This is a thread to share your stories of beloved pets that you have lost.

I think of this now because I'm reminded by my avatar. This happened awhile ago, but I still mourn the loss of my lazor wolf (pictued here as my avatar). My faithful companion was stolen just before the new year. Whether I was trolling the escapist, or pwning some n00bz on Xbox live, he would never leave my side.

We've all lost animals that we loved. So please, tell your story, and remember your long-lost friends.

I dedicate this thread to my lost dog, Laika 2002-2009

I am not attached to my pets because they are cats. My family has had four total, two have died, the other two are still alive and annoying the p*** out of me everyday; so I dedicate my post to the OPs dog Lakia, he sounded great

The only pet I have lost was a budgergar, it was 15 when it died, so that was quite impressive. It also got attacked by a cockatoo once.

New Years is a terrible time for me with pets.

I've had two dogs die in the past two years around Christmas/New Years. It sucks.

Actually I've never owned a pet. My mom lost a dog when she was young so we're not allowed them ever.

But I do know what it can mean to lose something you love.

I have had two cats that have died on me of natural causes. They both lived to be 16 which is 80 in cat years so no complaints. Sure their dying was sad, but they lived full lives and had relatively peaceful deaths.
I have had my current cat for the last decade and she isn't going anywhere.

I had a cat who just disappeared one day. I never really knew it that well, seeing as it was a stray who we adopted that never quite stopped living in the woods. I think about her every now and then, wondering which drainage ditch she drowned in or which one of the neighbor's dogs used it as a chew toy. Sweet kitty, she was...

Usually that means the cat went off to die, one of our cats did that when he got old.

She was only two years old, roughly. I guess she got sick, or something.

I lost 5 cats like that, but the worst was when the 6th one that died came back with a bullet hole in her side. Now I knew why all the others died so young.

I don't really do the whole animal companionship thing. I wouldn't have horses except my father died and left them to me to care for. So I do care for them, and figured out they are actually great animals. I have two cats. One was left with me by an ex. The other was left with me when a friend moved and couldn't take him with him. I have grown quite attached to the cat as well.

My family had a dog when I was growing up that died under the care of another family member. The second dog they got is still alive and kicking... Well kicking as much as an 16 year old half blind dog can.

Up until I had the pets somewhat forced on me, I had fish. They don't really count as pets. More living ornamentation. I kept good care of them and only lost two. I really should set that tank up again when I get some free time.

Well I found a dog, and while my sister and I where driving it to a shelter the poor thing had a seizure in my lap and threw up all over me...

That was a hell of a night...

I also had a pet Rat Hershey, she died on cancer which I attributed to two large tumors she had before she died... I still miss her, the best pet I ever had...

Well, lets see..
I know of ten pets we've had over my (short) lifetime that have died, three in the past year or so.
I was planning on going into more detail, but now I'm sad.

The oldest dog we had, that I can remember, disappeared one day when he was 15. He knew it was his time.

Another dog had to be put down.
Put down.
Put down.
Disappeared.
Not sure what happened.
Still alive.
Shot by drunken neighbor.
Cat got given away.
Puppies given away(I wanted to keep one).

And of course, various fish dying en-masse. It happens.
