So, my Xbox just crashed. I lost a few hours on Dragon Age: Origins because apparently autosaving is for losers. I can't bring myself to do those hours again just now.

I'm extremely irritated because those hours were `Lets get these little annoying quests out of the way so I don't have to do them again`, then the game crashed.

So, tell me, how much game progress have you lost before? Did you do it all again or rage and not play it again for weeks?

I have lost hours upon hours of game time before. Especially with some of the older games, without auto save features.

Morrowind comes to mind. I can't tell you how many times I lost hours of gameplay to that game.

Not that it was as bad. I didn't have to track over the same stretch of the game all over again. I was free to reload and try something new for a while before attempting what I was doing again.

With other games I usually just shut them off for a bit, not out of rage mind you. Just so it isn't so fresh when I try again.

And no, OP I am not stalking you. This is just a coincidence.

One time, when I was younger and playing it for the first time, my Gothic II save got corrupted as I reached chapter 3, which is a hell of a lot of progress. Because I was young, I cried for days. Damn that shit. Now I always have 5 or 6 separate saves for a single playthrough.

Well the file somehow got corrupted in my first Phantasy Star Online file which I was pretty pissed since that was when I enter Hard mode and gotten some rares for the first time. Since I love that game to much I did play it again and the overall result was far more better than the first saved file since I had gotten alot of rare loots!

Another time in Timesplitter 3 but idiot brother turn the game off during the saving process which I had made alot of progess in challanges mode. It took me ages to get back my favourite character because he was unlock when you win in this very had challange.

Oh weird. One of the first threads I ever made had the exact same title and topic as this one.

I've lost loads of progress in my time. I once lost a lot of pokemon because my gameboy died and I hadn't saved in a while, and this was after I'd spent ages catching some rare ones. My save file for Half Life 2 has been corrupted twice.

I can't really remember specifics anymore. All I know is that back when most games had manual saving, I would occasionally turn on my console/ handheld and get a feeling of dread in my stomach because the game wasn't where I left it, and I'd realise I forgot to save my last game before turning off my device. Hours of progress lost forever. All that effort slipped away into oblivion.

When that happens I usually avoid playing the game for a very long time because I am secretly ashamed that I didn't invest my time in doing something productive, and after all that I don't even have anything to show for it.

I got used to the auto-save feature in modern games, then completely forgot to save for about 4 hours when I went back to play FFIX >.< But I couldn't find any save crystals D: I only realised after I had to follow the moogle to it. Much rage!

I once lost over an hour of extremely hectic game-time because I forgot to press the quicksave key while playing Fallout New Vegas. I think I had fought through several groups of generic Raider-types using only a 9mm submachine gun and a crappy Service rifle; at least two of them where armed with grenade launchers. Then I had to go through a group of Caesar's legion. Finally, I pulled my battered body through a fight with a Giant Radscorpion and I am completely confident that the game pulled that last one out of its digital ass just to piss me off.

By the time I saw a nearby settlement, most of my limbs were crippled and I had no ammo. The important thing is I was alive and had a shiny new level for my troubles. Before me lay Novac as well as a doctor to staple my limbs back together. Right as I get within the town limits, the game decides to freeze and die.

Sure, I was angry at first but I just repeated the whole process and came out more healthy than the first time.

Generally if I lose a large chunk of game time I quit for a day or two, I'm less bitter and it feels like less of a chore that way.

I didn't play Ninjatown for ages because my DS ran out of power at the end of tutorial on the bus, and as it turns out my commute is exactly as long as that tutorial.

I give up. AVP2 has a quick save but I keep forgetting so I end up having to go through the same corridors and etc again. It gets really tedious and boring >.>.

Lol, that's strange. I pretty much made it as soon as the game crashed, because my boyfriend is at work and I have nobody to ***** to that it crashed. =(

Most games are pretty good with auto-saving but apparently Dragon Age is too cool for that business.

I did have my ex boyfriend delete my save on Oblivion before, when I had spent like 40 hours on it.

happened to me in DA:O too. I lost about 3 hours work. I did it all again, but it was a pain, and I rushed it the second time, so I probably missed stuff that I didn't the first time.

I corrupted my main Paladin save in D2 after trying to fix some misappropriated skill points, and now I don't know how to fix it. ~80 hours of play gone.

Look I found it! We had the same reaction to a traumatic experience it seems.

Did your ex delete your save on purpose? Either way, that's a dick move. On a slightly related note, I didn't let my boyfriend borrow Pokemon Black because you can't have multiple save files and I didn't want to lose my legendaries and traded Pokemon. Although I guess I'm the asshole in that situation.
