Hey, I'm wondering if I shoud buy Lord of the Rings conquest. I've really enjoyed past LOTR games, especially the Battle for Middle Earth series and I a, sorely tempted to buy conquest. However I also am trying to save money at the moment, so can someone tell me if its worth it? Does the game recreate the epic feel of LOTR or is it just average.

It's a good rental for the decent single player although multiplayer is 8 rogues vs 8 rogues so you should wait till a patch.

from what i understand, the "Should I buy game X?" threads are sort of frowned upon here... Escapists like to think that our forums are above that sort of shit... maybe try the official Xbox forums next time...

if you're not sure about a game, the best thing to do is rent or borrow it... problem solved....

EDIT: there are also numerous reviews on that game and others here and elsewhere... long story short, LotR: Conquest was not favored by most reviews that i've read...

The demo was certainly great fun, but I can see it getting old. I'd get it, but I'm saving for other things.

LOTR conquest I find to be okay, but it is lacking in epicness, and trueness to the story. There wasn't a million mages walking around Middle-earth, I can dig the scout, Warriors are fine, but the archers are ungodly fast shooting.

Well if you aren't bothered by repetitive button combinations and wave after wave of identical enemies then yea you should atleast try it out.(I actually didn't intend that to sound negative, it just is what it is)

I had abit of fun playing co-op with a friend laughing at all the stupid things the characters say, after launching a catapult "Ah, they'll feel that"! I actually found the bigger enemys to be alot easier than the basic horde, it gives you alot of time to do the button sequance.

Anyway, it's fun for a small amout of time when your trying to figure out combos and watever but it doesn't go for very long and even on the highest difficulty it wasn't that hard.

Game sucks, completed it within a few hours, multiplayer sucks too.
Really not worth it.
It's reused the movie scenese too many times; LOTR games should stop now.

I was wondering the same thing. I've seen some reviews and no one had to say anything good about it so I figured that I won't be buying it. I will rent it at some point though. Yes, I am a sucker for LOTR :D

mutiplayer does suck but the campaings are epic
pelennor field...sabtoage the seige towers then run while you can
and the battle for weathertop is just MASSIVE
Sabotaging towers or Oliphants wasn't that great, it didn't look that great either, sobotaging towers? All the person does is kneel for a second and gets up while it sets on fire than collapses, not really the greatest thing. Oliphants are the same thing.
And the maps are not massive, they could have been so much better.

I really think that this game is weak and they could have put alot more effort into it, but they didn't.

Rent it. Not as great as Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
I agree, I rented it for a week, completed it the first day, second day got the rest of the single player achievements, played a little multiplayer and just gave up on it.

Well if one good thing has come out of it; it made me want to play SW BF 2 again.

That's true, I enjoyed the flying the ships and eveything in it and there was alot more characters to pick from.

Something that would have probably made Conquest alot better would be having an option to be able to control the troops on the board, sure in multiplayer it might not work with more than two players, but it would give the player more of a reason to use their head instead of pressing one button making their character swing their same sword sequence over and over again to kill people.
