My friend and I just started playing Lord of the Rings Online we used to play WoW but we both quit because we were bored with it...anyways...

Any of you who play LOTRO have any advice for a novice?

No, I don´t think you will notice the difference ;-)
It may be that you can find people willing to roleplay on roleplay servers, but that is about it.
The usual:
Don´t buy from the vendors if you can help it
Don´t get ripped of at the auction house
Don´t get where you can´t fight the mobs

You know the dance

Try an RP guild =) It's the most fun you'll ever have, especially thanks to the rich story provided by one of the paradigm-shifters of the fantasy genre, J.R.R. Tolkien.

And if you don't, don't insult RPers. It makes you look like a major tool and you'll basically be saying "You're being nerdy for acting out your characters! Nerds! Now excuse me while I go min/max my stats to defeat raid boss 32x32.5 which isn't nerdy at all."

As for the rest, I suggest following the main story quests mostly. Watch out for Moria, it is very, very boring. Try to do Eregion as high as you can go, then go to Moria and leave as early as possible.

i rolled a Dwarf Hunter, im only lvl 7 atm, but it seems more complicated than WoW, i mean there is so many things to max out, like the deeds, the racial, class, and legendary traits/skills, do i need to worry about those?

Oh and i do like how it is more story driven than WoW is(atleast in the begining)

I can probably some of your more specific questions, but if you're looking for general tips I would suggest the official lotro.com boards as there's a ton of beginner guides there. :)

Deeds - Chances are you'll get the first tier for most of these just by playing normally. First tier gets you a title. Second tier, however, usually takes some grinding. Concentrate on the ones that give you good Virtues for your chosen class then work on others if you need/want the Turbine Points they give. As a Hunter you'll want Virtues that boost your Agility, Fate, Will, Ranged Defence and Melee Defence.

Racial - I'm not sure what the dwarf racials are as I've never played one but, for the most part, racials are nice to have but rarely game breaking. The big one for dwarves is, if I recall correctly, Endurance of Stone.. which isn't even a huge deal for a hunter anyway, since the last thing you want to be doing is sitting in melee range getting hit. Overall, don't worry about grinding out racials, just let them come with normal play.

Class - EXTREMELY important. Granted not all of them are of the same usefulness, but many are, and some are pretty much necessary for a decent character build. Early on, look at how the slotted trait will effect your personal play style and the skills you use frequently.. and don't be afraid to grind out the ones that will help you most. Note that you can't advance Class deeds by fighting against mobs that are really weak (the ones with gray names) or are non hostile (like random deer and squirrels), and some have daily usage caps. If you've hit the cap then the progress bar for the deed will be gold instead of blue.

Legendaries - They don't impact you at all at lower levels, so don't worry about them now. Once you can actually use them, well, they still may not be that great. I don't have a hunter at that level myself, but I know with the classes I do have at that point some of the Legendaries are awesome and some are near totally useless.
