Love and Labour.

So recently I've been trying to work things out with an old flame which I extinguished about a year ago via large amounts of petulance.

However as I now know what went wrong I know how much work there is to be done if things are ever going to work out. Support, patience, acceptance... all that jazz. I'm not sure if I've got the right idea or if it's something I'm ever going to be able to sustain but the feeling of persistence is very persuasive.

So, just for the discussion, I'm asking you Escapites what's the hardest thing you've put yourself through to make things work?

I going to make a lot of eyes role, but here it goes.

Relationships aren't hard, they're the least difficult thing I've ever had to do.

Now granted, I don't have a variety of experience in the matter, I've been with the same girl since I was 15 with no major hiccups along the way and I'm sure there are many tests ahead of us, such as children, finding a home etc., but these things are all a part of what makes a relationship great.

It's easy, guys.

It's so easy.

When me and my missus first lived together we had nothing ... I mean literally nothing.

I'd just left the army and we had 3 kids at the time. We had no money, we were living out of cardboard boxes with no furniture and the only cooking appliance we had was a touchy microwave that only worked if you hugged it and sang it a bloody lullaby (I hated that microwave).

I was never very good with cash so left the military as skint as the day I was born.

Fortunately my missus has more sense than me so it didn't take long to get on our feet but we had a good few rough months.
