I'm not sure about the American name for them but in the UK they're Love Hearts. Little candy hearts with messages.

I had a couple earlier and they said "Happy Harry" (Is this some innuendo I don't understand?) and "Hi Buddy".

I also had "I surrender" which made me think of them as French Hearts.

Am I the only one who thinks the quality has deteriorated?

I've never really understood the appeal in them, they taste shit anyway, so best to just ignore them!

Mostly chalk.
No cute sayings will make up for a taste equivalent to licking a blackboard eraser.
Why do people buy these awful things.
But yeah, at least they used to say "Hartz 4 u" or whatever.
"Hi buddy."
You just got put in the friendzone by an awful bit of candy, probably created by Hitler.
How does it feel?
Pretty shitty. Even Hitler won't say it to my face..

Edit: New message "Granny P" just wtf?

When I squeezed them hard enough they would grind into a powder. Just like chalk.

Is there a reason things with messages generally taste bad? Like candy hearts and fortune cookies? I wonder what the deal with that is...

I just hate chalk, so the quality may have deteriorated, but I'd never notice due to my lack of having bought them for any sort of v day festivity...

I like the taste of them... Having said that the last time I had them was ages ago, so for all I know they do in fact taste of chalk now.

Somebody probably got done for sexual harassment after offering one to some idiot with a broomstick jammed up their arse, so they had to change the messages to something a bit more platonic.

We have a packet of them in our kitchen for some reason?
I think they were given free on valentines day.
I had one that said, "As happy as Larry"
They tasted horrible, but I couldn't stop eating them.
Later I was sick XD.
No more sweets for me!

Their novelty value is only appreciated for a very short time. I haven't seen a lot of the sweets from my childhood in a while; those sweet necklaces, nerds, dweebs, blackjacks, flying saucers, etc...

I also like the taste... maybe it's just American ones that taste like chalk?

Isn't it the same company, Lukeje? Hrm.

And yes, in America, they are the nastiest-tasting candy around.

Maybe they are, but I really can't be bothered to check. It just seems to be mainly Americans complaining about the taste (although since there are more Americans on here, that is to be expected).

Edit: UK Love Hearts [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Hearts]
US Sweethearts [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweethearts_(candy)]
So no, they're not exactly the same.

Ah, well, that explains it.

Dang it, why do you folks get all the good stuff? With your sweethearts and your pubs and your time-travelling Doctors!

You clearly live nowhere near me. I step into a couple of shops and it's like time travel.

I'd be checking those BBE dates if I were you...although most of that stuff will probably still be just as edible when the sun finally dies.
