I just got Minecraft, but I can't play the damn thing because the framerate is so low. I had the same problem when I recently re-visited WoW, as well.

I've already tried changing the video settings, but that hasn't helped.

Any advice?

In browser or stand alone client?

PC specs?

Though, honestly, if you're having problems with MineCraft, you probably have some outstanding issues unrelated to hardware. You might want to scan for for Malware, Spyware, or other nasty bits that could possibly be killing your computer.

Do you have other outstanding PC issues?

It's in stand-alone, and I'll need to find the specs in a bit...

I do have some issues. Every time I scan, it finds a bunch of threats, but AVG can never get rid of them.

Scan with AVG. Write down the names of the 'problems.'

Then google those names. NEVER follow instructions that include installing software you've never heard of. You should be able to find instructions on how to 'manually' get rid of these bugs (Usually involves going into Safe Mode and regedit).

If you're having issues doing this, then just post the names here, and I'll try to help.

Gotta head to the sack now, but in the morning I'll run a scan and post the results...

The new lighting system Notch implemented is apparently giving quite a few people FPS issues.
You can turn it off in the options and see if that makes a difference.
It may give some indication as to what the problem is, minecraft strangely enough has rather high sys-reqs.
