I'm willing to bet if they hack the FBI they won't get caught. People think the FBI are some gods of intelligence that can track down anything, but lulzsec aren't stupid enough to announce and do this unless they knew they couldn't be caught by it.
You forget that organisations like the FBI never stop, and they have basically unlimited money.

If I was them I'd try and find them... and then recruit them.

Damn these hacker guys rile me up. I like to think of myself as mr ethics at times, but sometimes you can't help but think that burning at the stake is a-ok.

Does anyone know if personal info from nintendo was stolen? I really need to know.

This is getting ridiculous. To be honest, it scares me how good at this they appear to be. Or how bad popular companies are at protecting our info.

Get a move on, FBI, Scotland yard, and whoever the fuck else is working on this, at this rate, there'll barely be anyone who doesn't need to change every bank detail they have!

And did I mention how much I really have to know about nintendo? It's serious. As in "I'll have to close my bank account if I don't find out" serious.
Just the main server configuration file (So basically for all of Nintendo's websites...the only one I remember off the top of my head is customroboarena.com or something.) and a few admin usernames/passwords. Unless you're a Nintendo Administrator, then you don't have anything to worry about. Yanno, besides the fact that Nintendo is vulnerable to an attack.

I really don't find Lulzsec scary. The majority of their attacks are SQL injections, this relies on the admins making an error and not testing their own public facing servers for vulns. SQL injections are childs play, SQL injections against FBI assets are retarded childs play.

As for the FBI's ability to defend itself: These lulz suckers announced they attack and then exploited a service they will have found the hole in weeks ago in a vain effort to make it look like they can 0wn the FBI at will. It's some random FBI affiliated site they managed to scrape a few accounts off due to bad admin.

The only reason this is getting so much air time is because of the media attention to the PSN hack and the PSN hack was only a big deal because of the way Sony handled it. "Hacks" like this happy all day every day, the big difference ATM is that it makes good print.

Don't be scared of LulzSec, be scared of what $gov decides they should do to combat whatever they decide is the threat. Most developed nations are currently throwing money at their cyber-defences, this is a hot topic. Now suddenly cyber attacks are big news, this seems far to neat to be coincidence.

We are being played, non of these attacks have come close to denting critical infrastructure (that would make $gov seem incompetent) but the media flooding us with hacker scare stories.

Okay, you're the thread creator, so I figure you are the guy to ask (please pardon my ignorance). But what have they been doing that is pissing everyone off so much? I thought they were trying to point out security flaws or something, and weren't actually profiting from their attacks. I feel that either I'm missing something, or I should be ashamed of humanity that so many people are going "Hahaha, federal prison you treasonous ba****ds!!! Death penalties and daily prison-rapings!!!".

Seriously, what am I missing, because either everyone is over-reacting, or I'm not seeing the full picture.

If that were all they were doing, then people wouldn't be calling for them to be lynched.

There are a few problems, so I'll just list them: The vast majority of hacks that have happened recently have been by LulzSec. If they weren't running around hacking everything, then noone would really have a need for vastly improved security since they wouldn't be cowering in fear of LulzSec.

Also, LulzSec posts the admin and userdata that they steal from databases with messages like 'Go Wild!' and 'Plunder What You Can!' written at the top of the text files...and people have had accounts stolen. Which really sucks if that email was your business email account, so you're basically ruined.

So basically, THEY aren't directly using the information they take, but they post it for the people who DO do that. Also, they are in it for the money. After every hack, they yell 'DONATE TO THE LULZ BOAT!'...and people do. They're almost at $10,000 donations now. And they take their donations through Bit Coin so there isn't a money trail.

Jesus Christ. I'm goddamn sick of these assholes. It was funny the first time, but now it's just getting ridiculous. I really hope that they all get freakin' sent to Guantanamo Bay or somethin' as terrorists for fuckin' with the FBI. Hard to hack shit for the lulz when you're getting waterboarded. Let's see you move on to more "lulzier" things when you're getting a quart of water poured down your throat.
