No one on /tg/ or /v/ seems able to discuss this game, they'd rather talk about Waifu's and why Cawdooty sucks. You are the internets last hope.

Randomly came upon this song and so many goddamn feels. Please tell me other people out there remember this (and to a lesser extent, Eternal Blue)
Psuedo-tactical turnbased fighting
Seeing monsters on the Map
Dragon Hunting
Ghaleon, Pimpin and Betrayin
Magical Weapon Nash
That fucking last "fight" with dark Althena, feelings, pretty pretty feelings.
A great RPG series, sadly stymied by it's generation - it and EB came out on the ill-fated Sega CD, which soon after died.
It received successive ports to the Saturn (which also died) and then the PS2, it's English translation and localization being done by the now defunct Working Designs (who made the packaging for the games extra awesome, and adding extra game-play sequences, such as the playing of the harp to awaken Luna at the end).
Sadly, the ports also REMOVED gameplay elements, such as the free form character leveling and customization to be found in the original Sega CD versions, for a more simplified one-route level up.
Where was I? oh right. Feels. Feels man.

It's Sequel, Eternal Blue, took place hundreds of years in the future in a time when all the characters of the main game were dead (ballsy), but the consequences of the first games events were still apparent. Althena had returned to the world in human form, ushering in a new Golden Age - before vanishing again. The Magical City of Vayne, which once flew high over the other nations and kept others out forcibly, had been shot down by Ghaleons mobile fortress in the first game and fallen on hard times since, the once proud mage's guild fallen to memory. And Quark, Tetrach of the Dragon Tribe, had passed on. The main character is an archaeologist who digs up ruins that would've been FRESH in your time in the first game.
I didn't like it as much as the original. But the feels were still strong with it, and the romance between the main characters was arguably much better despite Lucia having the personality of a potato for most of the game - due to Hiro not being a silent protagonist, unlike the first games.
