I used to play it fairly often, it was a lot of fun. I got almost all of my characters from eSnips, and had about 5 GB of them. Then one day M.U.G.E.N wouldn't load any more, so I pulled the plug, deleting everything. I might start it up sometime in the summer if I get the urge.

I used to play around on mugen back in my freshman year of college (like 10 years ago) the big problem is with balancing. There are characters who are literally undefeatable. That said, if you get a good selection of characters the game was a blast

Never played it but it always looked awesome.

But I prefer the alternate M.U.G.E.N. clone Card Sagas Wars.

While still in production its trailers so far look very promising.

I used to play MUGEN on and off, it's one of my off periods now. I might get back into it though.

I especially love to get the most badass ones I can find go from there.

I never understood Mugen because it doesn't seem, nor in the times I've played it has it been, fun. It's just taking a shit ton of poorly edited sprites and assigning values to them without care for balance or playability resulting in nonsensical 800 character rosters that are all poorly designed and mostly recolours of old marvel vs. capcom characters.

Control-F balance, and you have saved me from having to rant.

There is an official version on the Xbox live arcade. I haven't tried it personally, but it's there.

Is there any site that still hosts all the PC files to play it? I used to play it years ago before the purely Linux development started, and that sort of crushed my interest at the time since they were changing how some things worked, meaning a lot of characters wouldn't be playable.

It's legal, as Capcom and SNK both stated plainly "as long as you don't profit, we don't mind" in so many words. To my knowledge no company ever went after a MUGEN character porter, as it would be purely bad publicity and letting them be used in game was just good publicity.

I remember playing it on my friend's computer sometimes. But, I don't really remember much about who the characters were, seeing as how he had so many.
