I saw the newest episode of the Game Overthinker, and this time he talks about innovation in games like Madden, versus games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mega Man 9, etc.

There IS a difference, though there isn't much difference between the actual fans of Madden and retrogamers.

I thought it was going to be about people like me who prefer to play older games, as compared to other people, who prefer things like New Super Mario Bros Wii.
Ho-hum.
"Of course that doesn't change the fact that Madden still sucks."

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a throwback to older games, I think that's kind of the point.

Wow, what totally clueless rambling that was. I'm never wasting my time on a video by that guy again.

I have nothing to say about Madden games as the only one I played was on the Megadrive, but let's face it, it isn't Sensible Soccer. A very soft target for the audience he is speaking to. If he came out and made it Uncharted 2 vs NSMB Wii then I think that the gloves really would be off.

People like what they like and we should all try to get along. Okaaaay, did I really watch all that for that conclusion?

I've always said that retrogames have a place, because they've established a place. Madden has established a place as well, and I'm fine with that. (Although I still hate playing Madden.) Maybe it's just the way I see it, but I like it when a game tries something new. Madden really isn't going to innovate much because...it's Football! How many ways can you possibly innovate it?
People don't hate Madden for it's lack of innovation, but mainly because EA rereleases what could easily be cheap DLC as a full priced game.

Then you might not want to watch Escape to the Movies anymore.

Bob "Moviebob" Chipman is in fact the Game Overthinker.

Retrogaming seems to me more a visit to the past, which can be a good thing. Things like Madden looks like stagnation, albeit stagnation people are willing to shell out $60/year/game for.

I can't blame EA for selling it each year as a new game. People keep buying it. I'm sure that as soon as they stop, EA will offer these updates as DLC.
