MAG Beta

The MAG beta is out now and free to play via PSN. Seeing as I don't have the greatest connection, I just recently finished downloading it and have been playing for a while.

I'm pretty impressed with it, its kinda like Call of Duty on a larger scale. It has some exciting moments, like when your team loses both of the comm tower objectives, and you fall back to the base and try to hold off the enemy swarm, and vice versa. The controls could use some smoothing out, but that's what betas are for.

So, for those of you who have played it, what are your opinions? What could they improve on? Did this beta convince you weather or not to get the game?

I downloaded it yesterday (took forever, started at 3:30pm and it wasn't done till 1:00 am) Anyway, I enjoyed the game, although the controls were a bit clumsy, although as the OP said himself that's what Betas are for. However it didn't really convince me to get the game, because after playing it and despite how impressive it was, I just don't want it.

Although maybe some day in the future when I see the game in the preowned section then I might pick it up.

I tried playing as the sniper, but thats why I have a problem with the controls, even with the sensitivity turned all the way up, they just seem kinda jerky to me.

I know, it took forever to download, then forever to install the updates. Mine took almost 5 hrs. And that was after the first download attempt failed halfway through.

it plays pretty much like other zipper games. I was holding out for better customization, but the bigger games are really fun and different. Feels like a dice battlefield pc game at times, the city maps in 2142.

Would have been much better if it was just socom 1, with 256 people.

The 64 player mode is ok, nothing spectacular imo. The 256 player matches however, are fucking awesome.

...And then a guy sneaks up behind me.

OT: I like it a lot, it's quite fun. Although I don't like waiting 20 seconds to respawn, then immediately getting killed by a sniper as I run out.

I played it once... I found it to be clumsy, and respawn took way too long. Not only that but you had to run AGES to get back to the fight, after which I'd be killed seconds later (but thats more to do with my skill level)

I went straight back to MW2 I'm afraid.

I've played it and the spaming of grenades can be annoying, and the 256 battles seem cluster fucky but after a while you know what....I had a ton of fun.

So far every team I've played with communcated, called out postions, looked after each other which is something I don't see much of anymore. The leveling up seem like it has a real purpose but Just be careful and get the kick-hammer ready for the a-holes who like to kill other teammates for fun.

I agree with you folks up above me- the grenades are far too many, and running to the points can get rather annoying... But yet... It's amazing.

I love when you take/lose the two towers and have to move to the third. You look at your map, and it's just like, a cluster of dots moving the same direction. It just feels terrific.

The Sabotage is more Call of Duty esque while domination is like nothing I've ever seen. The Commnad with good people and mics make it very good. I've had us with all the platoon coordinating and halting the enemy at the burnoff towers, and we were using team work. the best team game out there.

in a domination match no one used mics and we still played like a really big team. When the doors to out base where being rigged with bombs everyone stood away and aimed at the doors.
though we lost we brought the match to its last minute defending.

Its severely broken. And battles are more like small skirmishes rather than actual major battles

That said it was still very cool

For some reason I was could only play sabatoge, but it felt like gold rush missions on Bf BC 1 and 2 so I liked it. Do not know if I will be getting it though
