I never had to play against the Mono-Blue Control decks, but Counterspell still popped up and was really aggrivating.Knonsense said:Ah, sorry. I was incompetent at magic back then.randommaster said:Think you missed the joke.Knonsense said:Well, not when half your cards are red.randommaster said:There used to be a time when two Islands were all you needed.Knonsense said:True. I was more referring to the fact that he qualifies Mirrodin as new.randommaster said:Tempest and Prophesy are fairly old, especially since they're out of extended, but Judgement isn't that old.
Everyone gets mana screwed or flooded from time to time. I only got two lands during one game and they were both islands.pantsoffdanceoff said:I played at a local store because they didn't have enough players and was 2-2. One of my losses was my inability to not pick anything but land cards. I only play casually and had never played experienced people so I'm still rather proud of my performance.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Tempest, two Islands usually meant Counterspell was in your hand, and was one of the strongest starts in the game at that time. This persisted until 8th edition, when it rotated out.
