I dunno. MM and OoT are the only two Zelda games I never really liked. I think I dislike MM a bit more, but for whatever reason, neither of them ever really worked for me. I forced myself to finish both of them (it took several years for OoT) but I just didn't have much fun with either of them.

I probably would have given up on Zelda games if WW had been the same way. Fortunately it was completely awesome, and so I'm still playing them. Even TP, which everyone says is really similar to OoT, was just waaaaaaaaaaaay more fun for me. LttP is still probably my favorite though.

My only problem with OoT is it felt like a remake of Link to the Past to me. And I like MM because it felt different compared to LttP,OoT, and WW (never played TP yet).

A friend and I were having a debate last week about this game and it compared to other Zelda games. I don't think too much of it whereas my friend thought it was great. We started to compare it to Ocarina of Time and I thought OoT was much better, he thought MM was better due to the side quests and, granted, the side quests were better in MM than the ones in OoT but the main game wasn't that good whereas OoT was great from the start. however, the fight against Majora's Mask/Incarnation/Wrath is one of my favourite fights (when not using the Fierce Diety mask!). We then brought Wind Waker and Twilight Princess into the mix.
For me it would go MM, WW, OoT, TP
For him it was WW, OoT, MM, TP

but it was Majora's Mask that we seemed to have the biggest discussion, and difference of opinion, .

What's your opinion of it?
Loved it.
It was twisted, weird, dark but the most important was that it was UNCANNY (familiar but unfamiliar at the same time). It was a direct Sequel (something that's not seen much at all in the Zelda universe) and it threw Link into a parallel dimension where you met alot of familiar characters from the Ocarina of Time world but they were completely different personality wise. Plus the new people you met just were indeed intriguing, but what sold me most was the Creepy atmosphere you get when going to the Stone Tower. That place was the thing Nightmares were made out of....O_O...still afraid of those mummies.

All in all it gave us one hell of a fresh Antagonist and a stupendous ending. Admit it. The 4 giants were cool as hell!

Plus honestly Majora's Mask was alot creepier of a Villain than Ganondorf was.

I haven't played Wind Waker but for me it would go: Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, Ocarina Of Time, Spirit Tracks and lastly Phantom Hourglass.
Majora's Mask is better because it doesn't rely on dungeons like Ocarina of Time does and it's interesting to look into the everyday lives of people rather then them just being the same person who looks different each time.

Here's the short version of why MM is better than OoT.
1. The water temple doesn't make you want to murder someone.
2. The game play is more varied and interesting.
3. The Bunny hood.

You sure? I found the Great Bay Temple much harder than the Water Temple (whose difficulty I find is greatly exaggerated). Then again, my memories might be clouded by Gyorg, who is definitely That One Boss for me.

OT: I freakin' LOVE Majora's Mask! Easily my favourite game in the series, even topping Ocarina of Time. Wind Waker was fun, but way too easy. One later boss didn't even manage to scratch me. As for Twilight Princess... it was the most disappointing. Seriously. Only decent things from that game were Midna, Stallord, and the epic battles with Ganondorf.

Really? I found I could breeze thru it even while doing a number of side quests. course maybe it's cause I do most of the side quests.
PS. The minimum number of cycles it take to get FDM is 4, the first being where you spend the entire time as a deku.

I could've sworn from the title of this thread that it would be about the Majora's Mask Creepypasta...Now that we're on the topic, how many of you had heard about/read the actual creepypasta?
Here here. You mean about the Haunted game cartridges? Like there would be characters in diffent areas than normal (Plus the link wooden statue) and if you approached them you'd catch on fire and die?
Along those lines yes, the damn thing was long as hell too.

I liked how this game always made you need to keep moving and not just wait around. a three day limit made it so you couldnt just mess around killing random things if you wanted to win. It made you keep up the pace, and the giant moon glaring creepily down at you really made me hurry up. I dont think i would have tried to dash through every dungeon if it wasnt for the face on the moon.

Me and my steam friends have debated this numerous times.

If you play OoT first you are going to like it more than MM, but I played MM first and therefore it is much better.

You called?

Majora's Mask isn't better than other LoZ games because of game play, but because of mood and emotional impact.

The entire story is filled with horror and despair, the threat of death looming over you all of the time. It has mysteries like that in halo, along with the wacky fan theories that entails.

Majora is a FAR better villain then Ganon ever will be, everything it does is just a giant game to it, all for FUN.

It makes the citizens of ternmia suffer death again and again; for every mask in the game, someone died, no matter how much you try there will always be people you couldn't help in time by the 3rd day.

If you played as a kid, I garnutee you that it stuck with you far more then OoT, all of it is pure nightmare fuel; thevillain, [http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/171/6/1/Majora__s_Mask__Neon_by_TFhybrid.jpg] the mask salesman [http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs36/f/2008/275/f/f/WHERES_MY_MASK_by_Dekuinthelake.gif], the setting, all of it horrific. Hell, I'd say playing Majora's Mask was one of the most influential events of my life, I am now obbesed with the titular villain.

Especially the music:

That, THAT is why Majora's mask is so great.

Yes, the time limit thing was annoying, but look at Majora's mask not from a gameplay anaylizing standpoint, but from a story one.

That's where it shines; or darkens, rather >:)

I really enjoyed that "Majoras mask" was different to "Ocarina of time". I actually respect and appreciate that the developer's for not just doing a rehash of "OoT" to try and make lightning strike twice. I prefer OoT, but Majoras mask comes in a close second (along with a "Link to the past").

Actually, Majora's Mask is my favourite Zelda game. Yes, I like it more than the GameBoy ones and more than Ocarina of Time.
I playd it all the time as a kid. It wasn't the typical adventure, it had something new...the time cycle, the masks...I loved the concept and I still do.
The whole world off Termina and all its stories fascinated me way more than Hyrule did.

Yes, you're nailing it. The game is full of emotion. A couple having been torn apart, a deku butler losing his son, a dad turning into a zombie in front of his very daughter...these are just examples, and all of it just happened because Majora's Mask wanted to have some "fun". No evil scheme, no complicated plans...just destruction in its purest form. The whole world was full of pain. And you were completely alone in it. Sure, you could try and help some of those poor beings...but two days and a certain song later they will forget you.

And the music, oh god, yes...it's just beautiful. The Oath to Order [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuxL6om5eNo] will be my funeral song. Oh, and Calling the Giants [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yV5uEmoRIo] as well.
