Zelda: Spirit Tracks gives me the impression the guys at Nintendo are running out of ideas for the Zelda series. I mean, riding a horse or sailing a boat connotes freedom to me, which is what I think they were aiming for - but driving a steam train?!
I also love the instruments Link has to use to summon gods, along with any other weird items like weapons that get used to make use of whatever new toy Nintendo have invented i.e. blowing or shouting at your DS. So, hows about we all make up our own random Zelda game gimmicks?
I'll suggest a few to start off with:
Instrument: Didgeridoo - summon the spirits of Hyrule with the magical didgeridoo. Use the all new 'didjer-wii-doo' accessory to blow into the end of your wiimote, and make realistic didgeridoo noises. Whenever Link uses it, he puts on one of those hats with corks tied to it that all Australians wear... (/sarcasm)
Weapon: rolling pin. Use it to flatten your enemies... or something.
Method of transport: Unicycle. As you use it you have to keep your wiimote straight or Link will overbalance and fall off, all for the benefit of testing the player's patience.
