The title pretty much says it all.

Make up facts, stories and statistics that are completely false, but with just enough of a ring of truth for some to accept them. Dont forget to use big words.

Bonus points if you can make your "fact" sound very scientific/intelligent.
Also, a cookie if you can convince people you know that what you post is in fact true.

Here is one of mine

-The term "PC master race" was originally coined in the late 1980s, when the early personal computers were often built using high quality parts imported from german factories, while consoles such as the sega were generally constructed out of cheaper soviet bloc produced components. The early PC users, with machines that were extremely costly, highly technical but capable of a wide range of operations, became known as the PC master race. By the same token, those who used consoles, cheaper and operable with no technical background but with limited capabilities, became known as the console untermensch. In more recent years the term untermensch has been phased out by terms such as "rabble" and "peasant", implying economic inferiority as opposed to evolutionary inferiority.

So, fellow escapists, lets see you do better (probably wont be hard).

The term 'scapegoat' came into being sometime during the Middle Ages, and is a combination of two words; scape and goat. Scape is a (nowadays unused) term used to describe the bottom front part of a shoe. The part of the outsole that isn't the heel, basically.

In those days, sickness amongst animals was commonly blamed on the animals promiscuity; so when, for example, a goat got sick, it was assumed the sickness came from too much hot goat-on-goat action (typing that was unpleasant).

The general idea was that if one were to position the goat in front of the herd and have friends/family/anyone close by kick the goat to death (using the front part of the shoe, or the 'scape'), it would serve as a lesson to all the other goats to - in modern terminology - keep it in their pants.

Eventually the practice became so common that the shepherds would find a sick goat, and simply call out "Scape Goat!" And everyone nearby would come running.

Thus, scapegoat.

The shortly presented diaries of Albert Einstein, donated to the University of Massachusetts by his granddaughter Evelyn, revealed that he actually had his important idea (he used the german term "Geistesblitz") to form his famous equation for the theory of relativity, while he was eating a soup with alphabet-noodles at a diner not far from his home. The noodles formed EHMCZ on his spoon, and while he blew on the soup to cool it down the H was turned sideways and the "geistesblitz" struck him.
