Let's say you're a hollywood executive, tasked with making a film out of a game of your choice. Tell us who you'd cast, who you'd put as director, and any other roles to be fulfilled optionally. If it's a long game, you may also choose which parts to cut out to still retain the story and action.

Project: Timesplitters
Director: Neveldine/Taylor in collaboration with John Woo
Writers: Neveldine/Taylor
Basically an all-in-one action movie which could also spoof other action movies, such as westerns, mid-century ganster flicks, War movies (such as jarheads or The Hurt Locker),horror (zombies and such) and to an extent, even take the piss out of none action generes such as Rom-Com's or courtroom dramas. And use this as song as the main theme perhaps:

Project: Battlefield: Bad company
Director: Zak Snyder
Writer: Whoever wrote Bad Company 2
Cast
Preston Marlowe: Gerard Butler (have you even SEEN him in RockNRolla?)
Sweetwater: Johnny Depp
Haggard: Benicio Del Toro (trust me)
Redford: Keith david
Just Base it off the second Bad Company, as that had a more solid story with better set-pieces. Give the characters more humour though.

Dammit Ninja'd by the OP, i wanted to make a Bad Company movie, but with more humour like in the first one.

I suppose a Modern Warfare movie wouldn't be so bad, it would fix the awful narrative that came to be in the second one.

Soap Mactavish: Dougray Scott, he does look a lot like him.

Captain Price: Gerard Butler

Makarov: (if he's in it!) Should be played by Rober Kneeper.

Funny, actually, I once had the idea that Gerard Butler COULD play soap, whilst Craig fairbrass could still play Ghost as well.

Project: Fable 3
Director: Not really sure
Writer: Also no idea
Cast
The Prince: Nick Hoult/The Princess: Emily Blunt - both young enough, both likeable, and both very talented.
Jasper: John Cleese - you don't need anyone else
King Logan: Hugo Weaving - he can easily look and act like the kind of dick needed for the role, and he can definitely play villains
Reaver: I dunno about this one. Stephen Fry's voice is so perfect, but appearance-wise he just wouldn't work in the role
Voice of the Crawler: John Hurt - this might seem odd, but John Hurt's voice whispering horrible things to you from nowhere would just be a massively creepy experience. add some distortion effects and you've got it right there
The Crawler: Doug Jones - you get the size needed on account of Jones's height, plus he's really good at bringing physicality to a role like this (see his work on Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth)

I'm shit at naming actors and don't know any directors. But I've seen Assassin's Creed Lineage and I feel the franchise can be made into something at least worth watching. If only for the "oooh!"s and "look at those sweet parkour moves" and "I never knew you could kill someone like that".

A triology would be too much, but only one movie would be too cramped. The ideal number would be 2.

Project: HAZE
Director: Darren Aronofsky

A stylised action film mixed with satire following a soldier and his conflict with his inner demons as he's haunted by the things he has done and the drug that surrounds the war he finds himself in. The Hurt Locker meets Requiem for a Dream.

Shane Carpenter- James Franco
Duvall- Christian Bale
Merino- Liam Neeson

Well...you can make a good movie out of anything.

Okami, definately. It'd be animated by Studio Ghibli and I would bite off my own hand because I am obviously dreaming.

Mass Effect, except it's not a movie, it's a mini series on HBO or AMC or something.
Director- Me, why not? I can't think of anyone else.
Written by the game's writing staff, they know the universe best, so.
I don't know who I'd cast in the human roles apart from Keith David as Captain Anderson and Seth Green as Joker. I'd definitely have the voice actors for Saren, Tali, Garrus and Wrex reprise their roles, though.

It would be awesome.

Project: Red Faction: Guerrilla

The guy who directed V for Vendetta

Alec Mason - Christian Bale or Sam Worthington (maybe one can play his short-lived brother, Dan)
General Roth - Christopher Lee
Admiral Lucius Kobel - John Hurt
Sam - Some female support actress
Jenkins (the psycho) - Cillian Murphy

We'll keep the writing the same just edit it for a movie:

The main plot is a miner (Alec) who comes to Mars to seek his new life, yet Mars is under military rule, a rule he has decided to break as a member of the Red Faction rebellion after his Brother (Dan) is killed. As he makes his way along destructive action scenes with the EDF there is a traitor in the ranks (Jenkins)
and he has to deal with this as the resistance is almost crushed, afterwards the mysterious inventor (Sam) unites them with the Marauders (barbarians) and they assault the EDF main base with the intent to crush the EDF there and then, yet they then have one last battle with General Roth atop a bitter mountian summit whilst attempting to destroy a EDF space destroyer with a Nano missle..

Should be good..

All the ones that I can think of (Bioshock, Thief, Prototype) wouldn't have enough story and generally work so well as a game that the story would probably be very similar (disregarding Prototype at this point) and probably pointless.
Game based movies are just a bad idea anyway.
This, but I'll play along. I did like the first Mortal Kombat to a degree so how about a Killer Instinct movie? Since fighters have more abbreviated storylines than most they are better suited to movie adaptations following the basic tournament structure.
Director/Writer: Quentin Tarantino

Since rendering every character would stretch both budget and character development, stick with the seven who were in both games. Particular focus on the human characters Jago, Orchid and TJ Combo would be mandated, but don't skimp on the other four if it can be helped. Tarantino likes his social commentary so include undertones showing the media dramatization of fighting (since the Ultratech Tournament is broadcast worldwide) juxtaposed with the grim reality that none of them have a choice but to kill:

Jago- Follows the dictates of the Tiger Spirit telling him to enter and kill the champion until Orchid and Combo teach him to think for himself.
Orchid- It's in the mission to find out what happened to the people Ultratech has abducted and turned into freakshows for their tournament.
TJ- The only exception; he just wants to be rich again but has found friends who don't care about that.
Spinal- A wicked wraith sent by Gargos to destroy the champion should Jago fail.
Glacius- Having known nothing but abuse and greed from humans so far forcing him to compete to return home, he eventually becomes good.
Saberwulf- He fights for a cure while gradually transforming more frequently, blinding himself to the truth that his benefactors are merely stringing him along and he will never be cured.

i don't particularly like video game based movies but ah hell i'l give it a go

title: Armored Core
Director/writer: Neill Blomkamp in collaboration with Michael Mann
plot: a 'slice of life' kinda deal showing a mission from multiple viewpoints (the before, all the the planning and logistics that go into it and then the mission itself), the ravens involved, a few MT pilots, the handlers, and the group/corporation/client that had put out the mission request

not sure what the mission is yet though, probably finding or guarding some mystery object, (bit of lost technology a-la armored core 2, or new AC parts, something like that) naturally the AC pilots after the mystery object are not only fighting the MT pilots guarding the object but also each other for various reasons (other raven was hired to help support the MT pilots, don't want to share the reward, just likes killing things, etc)

cast: bit of a problem here as there wouldn't be using any pilots from the games as it would mess up continuity, but allows one to come up with their own characters and AC's set up in a particular way, but i'l a give a rough list as to who i'd have doing what role

Ravens (AC pilots): Denzel Washington, Sean Pertwee, Alicia Witt, Benicio Del Toro, Scarlett johannson
AC pilot handlers: Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Earl jones, Michael Sheen, Tina Fey
MT pilots: Sean Bean, Brian Cox, Eric Bana, Harrison Ford
corporate execs/client: Melanie Griffith, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickmann
