I'm making a webshow on you-tube(hopefully it will find it's way to the Escapist, but I doubt it), and I have some things which I haven't decided on yet. Here's the basic plot: The first episode takes place ten years in the future. The main character (currently nameless)runs into a dark cluttered room, grabs a piece of paper, and begins to write a letter. The screen shows the story of everything that's happened in the past few years. The sales of casual/family friendly games skyrocketed, even higher than they are today. More and more developers noticed, and eventually every series became completely family friendly, easy to play, and boring to the real gamers. This spread to every other form of media. The whole world became a colorful, friendly place, except for a small, isolated city where the true gamers still play the games from years ago, before this happened. One day, a man who has always hated video games and never changed his opinion became so furious about the new video game-based world that he snapped and forced his minion to create the most powerful computer virus ever and send it to every computer on the planet. All of the computers are infected. The Esrth's teens, who are even more dependent on sites like Myspace and Facebook than they are now, complete;y break down and can't do anything. Adults miss important emails from all over, and eventually the whole Earth falls into chaos, except for the isolated Gamer City, where people were smart enough to not activate the virus. Our hero(still in the flashback)goes to his door where he finds a computer. While suspicious about the computer being there, he is tempted by it's amazing features. He decides to set it up and search it for information about the owner as well as suspicious files. The computer seems normal until he finds the original file for the virus. Before he can do anything, he hears a knock at the door followed a deep voice saying "This is police! Come out with your hands up!" It goes back to him writing the letter. The voice over says "This box contains some technology that may help you. You must save the gaming industry. It is the only way to save the future. He puts the letter in the box, tapes it, and throws it into a machine. He types some information on a control panel and a light glows. Just then, a cop breaks down the door. He pulls out a tranquilizer(when video games became less violent, so did real life). Our hero pulls out a weapon(undecided on what) and attempts to fight, but is hit. Half asleep, he decides that his past self will find better use of the weapon and throws it in to the time-machine.
I have a general idea of what I want to do with the rest of the series(or just season), but not enough to post. I just have a few questions:
1) What should I name the hero? I'm trying to think of something original, but I need some ideas.
2) What should his main weapon be? Something that isn't too overused, but not too far out there
3) So far the contents of the box include: An electronic notepad with information that will help the hero, a power-glove that enables you to enter video games(used a lot throughout the series, but I don't want to give too much away), a cape that allows you change appearance, and something that allows communication between the user and anybody else regardless of what language they're speaking(I want something to have the ability to do this, but I don't know what kind of object. Anything else?
Any constructive criticism is appreciated.

..This sounds pretty cool.

For the weapon, it depends, can it be video game based? Use a gun peripheral or something. If this is supposed to be set in reality, some simple weapon like a magnum would be good.

I guess it doesn't matter. The owner of the weapon had technology that allowed him to go into video games, so he could have a game-based or reality based weapon.

I dunno I'd go with something freaking nerdy, like Allanon, just throwin it out there,
and why give him a weapon when you can just take weapons from games, for example: taking a picture of a boo with the camera from fatal frame maybe,
and maybe give him something like a scanner from DBZ so he can eventually crush it in his hand(not specifically games but nerds would enjoy that)

The Main characters name, the young Jack Thompson.
Actually, I might make the guy who decided to spread the virus Jack Thompson,o(more likely) something that sounds similar.
