I am far from a loner but none of my friends really play video games! So when I play games online I am a bit of a forever alone, tragic I know.

I would really appreciate tips on making like minded friends online... or offline really.

Thanks!

Well, my number one tip would be to NOT play Call of Duty. Every man and his goat are out to get you there...If you're playing online and you have a mic, just speak up a bit, throw sarcasm around.

Also, out of curiosity, what system do you play on?

It's more of a magical things really, it just sorta happens (for me at least). Depends greatly on the game you're playing. In WoW it's a lot easier making online friends via raids and the such. It can be harder on a lot of games because you make friends via teamwork and achieving things together. And ofc everyone knows that today is the era of "lmfao, gtfo of my way I need to beat you in kills even though we're playing domination".

Ah, then I can be of no assistance there! I'm an Xbox kinda guy myself. A good idea might be to find any MP games you have and go take a look at it's forums, ask about on there and you might meet a couple of cool people. I know it worked for Battlefield with me, I met a bunch of class guys.

Well that isn't very encouraging! I am playing DayZ at the moment and most people would rather shoot me in the face then make friends :(

I'm sure there are some groups on here for people who play PC games like TF2 and Left 4 Dead, why not join one of them ?

There's your problem! You definitely, definitely want to head over to their forums and try and find a group. Look through the introductions area if they have one and try and team up with some of the new guys, they're the ones who are least likely to shoot you in the back.

Day-Z is not an environment conducive to making new friends. The entire game's concept is built around perpetual paranoia and mistrust of your fellow man.

I am open to playing other games! I am not entirely set on DayZ, just my current fad. I like the looks of PayDay for example.

Check out TF2. the community is very large and cartoonish team-based games generally tend to have nice communities.

Yeah, it's often tough to really make friends during the play of most games. It's more if you can find a portal to the community behind the games (or, in the case of something like an MMO, the community is an actual part of the gameplay). This is even more true when you're talking about a game/genre that is heavily based around competition. Based on your low post count you may not know this, but The Escapist actually has User Groups for certain games/genres. That may be a good start since, you know, you're here already. :)

By the way, that's a cool Avatar you've got there. Is it part of a larger image by chance?

It depends on what games you're going to play, something co-operative I recommend.

It helps a lot if you're actually good at the game or chat without being annoying.

Meeting people in game is a hard. Most are too wrapped up in the game play or aren't looking for friends. I think I've only made one friend from a game and that is when he was my teammate in a long game of Company of Heroes.

You are on a gaming forum. A place where people talk on the internet about video games, you could try to make friends here. User Groups or posting often that sort of thing.

Do what I do, and compliment the players who really stand out, whichever team you're on. I find survivial type games such as Mass Effect 3, or zombies a good place to try.
