I'm so glad Chrom got posted, 'cause damn he's cute.
I laughed so hard and had an "Oohhh myyy~" moment when I saw the poster that his male guard had commissioned to "inspire" the troops. That couple practically shipped itself.
And to be honest, I kinda want that mousepad for the laugh factor.
Fire Emblem: Awakening was just awesome, glad that for once I was getting some eye candy instead of all the TnA the straight guys get.

I know, right? They still didn't even show that much, and the girls were pretty much the same, but it the cute guys improved the game for sure.

My main man Geralt

What I love about Geralt, and I'm straight, is that he looks REAL. He's in good nick, and has that rugged charm about him, but 1) he looks like someone who would be in that type of shape, in that type of era/world and doing that type of job. He's not stupidly buff, and also quite "weathered"; 2) he's not actually "good" looking per say, not traditionally, he looks like a normalish bloke and breaks trends such as having grey hair - something the popular opinion would deem as "ugly"; 3) half of his attraction comes from that deep voice and cool persona.

He's definitely a pretty guy, but he's rugged, scarred and manly. He's not a beefcake like someone like Marcus Fenix, and he's got an atypical look with his cat eyes and white hair. But he gets better looking every game. And it helps he is wry, sarcastic and hilarious.

Can't wait for The Witcher 3.

Lastly, Murphy Pendleton from Silent Hill. I have loved nearly every single one of the protagonists for this series, but there was something about Murphy that set him apart from James and Harry (not counting Henry because while he was hot, he was a complete moron)

Now I'm a dude and I don't swing that way but from what I've been told, woman don't care about looks, only personality and brains and whatnot (this explains why movies like 50 Shades of Gray and Magic Mike always tank at the box office).

It's actually more that games, western games in particular, are more likely to feature men who happen to be sexy rather than men who are designed to be sexy.

Part of it is the fan service gap, even with Japanese media and their tendency to play to multiple demographics there is still a gap in the quantity of male fan service characters. The second part is a byproduct of the standards of attractiveness for men overlapping with standards of fitness for men. The same isn't always true for women. For instance. One can look at a picture of a male gymnast and a male model and see similarities in their body type. The male model may have more definition, though mucle definition isn't a true sign of fitness, and in some cases men need to be dehydrated in order to show a lot of definition. Put into video game land where most characters are idealized, you either get men with model bodies, or men who look like they need to stop with the steroids. But one can't really compare a female gymnast and a female swimsuit model. Adding idealization into the mix and women who are supposed to be very active end up looking a tad too soft for their assumed level of activity. Pushed to the extreme the counterpoint to male characters that look like body builders are female characters that look as if they have gotten implants put in. Instead of having both male and female characters that look like body builders.
