At the sound of the gunshot, I run into the kitchen and look around.
I raise my radio to reply to Zombie.
"Couldn't. The guy just showed up, fired his gun and ran. Salt's chasing him, unless he got shot. Knife is down in the sewers too."

I step outside into the alley and look around. Salt isn't lying in a pool of blood, which is good.

 

[Captain Anon]

i put my sniper rifle down "i'm going after salt he'll need backup" i shout before running off in the direction of 2nd Avenue taking the high ground of the rooftops free-running style

"Good point."
I climb down into the sewers, then take the intersection towards the inner city. Because years of watching crime dramas have taught me that's where all the criminals live.
And also I'm lost as balls.

 

[MinimanZombie]

"Alright, I'll...I don't fucking kno-whoa-whoa-shit." I slip and fall into the piss water.
"Son of a *****!" I get up, and run around for a while, before bumping into Trilby.

I fall over.
"Hey, Zombie. Uh... I thought you were the Los Muertos Trío guy. He killed Joe, and Salt came down here after him."

 

[Paddy the Second]

I get up from marathoning Puella Magi and wipe the tears from my eyes. I radio the others. "What's the sitch?"

 

[MinimanZombie]

"Way to stick to the fucking plan. Eh...Want to go get a donuts?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"I did stick to the plan. We were made, Zombie. He shot Joe and opened fire on Salt. I only came down here to make sure Salt's not been kidnapped, because I haven't heard from him in five minutes."

 

[Saltarius]

"STOP RUNNING AND WE'LL SHORTEN YOUR SENTENCE SANCHEZ!"

 

[Captain Anon]

i radio trilby "i think I've almost caught up to salt but i think he's two or three streets ahead of me. wait i heard something, ah! there he is i see salt, damn he's hauling ass" i jump down on to another building "Christ even through he's blind and he can damn well run when he wants to" i say before resuming the chase.

 

[MinimanZombie]

"I know Tril. I know. I was referring to the whole unit. Let's go. I found a new iPhone."
I open Apple maps.
"Shit."

 

[Paddy the Second]

"Nice phone Zombie, surprised apple's reach extends this far into space."

"I'm not. Now, the trail's gone cold, so let's just go back to Joe's and call the actual cops."

 

[MinimanZombie]

"Good plan." I throw that phone on the ground, like the piece of shit that it is.
"This sounds like the time for a relevant song."

Nothing happens.

I nudge the phone.
It just lies there, in a pool of standing water.
"Yeah, that thing is crap."
I head back to Joe's.

"Neat." Knife snaps a picture of the cityscape, then steps forward and grabs the padlock, crushing it with his mechanical hand. Pushing open the gate, Knife continues down the walkway.

You step out over the walkway and out to a storage unit suspended on a cable system. There's a control panel next to you. You can open it, or cycle through containers.

"STOP RUNNING AND WE'LL SHORTEN YOUR SENTENCE SANCHEZ!"

As you run by, a hand from the dark points a Python at you.

"Drop it."

I head back to Joe's.

Joe leans up by the back door. He pushes his hand up to his stomach. A trail of blood flows down the street.

"Ah. It's alright. Bullet vest stopped the other one."

 

[Saltarius]

"...Listen. I'm giving you this one chance."

The hand whips you on the back of the head and knocks you unconscious.

You wake up in the same spot moments later.

 

[Saltarius]

"Ergh. WHERE ARE YOU?"

You hear footsteps echoing all around you.
