I have an Atari Jaguar in mint condition, how much d'you reckon that would be worth?

Seriously? He needs the money and all, but.. would someone really pay all that for just a NES bundle?

Hm. Hi everyone. I'm a down-on-my-luck videogame writer. I have bills that need paying. My prize possession is not a regular old Nintendo, but a Super Nintendo with about 30 games. Does anybody want to buy the whole set for $75,000? That's a sweet deal, and I really need the money, I promise.
I'll take it for $200,000.
I'm still waiting for other bids I'll let you know.
I'll bid some pocket lint and a spoon.

An act of kindness and some of you guys are being complete pricks about it. Nice one escapists, i'm proud of you.

OT: This is pretty damn cool, considering he's ready to show that he was actually in debt and needed someone to bail him out. The kindness of the internet always amazes me.

In that case, you should be really mad at the fact that, even assuming the guy really is in a bad place, this is almost assuredly a joke bid.

I seriously hope this post is a joke.

What a heartwarming story, but a a little stupid though.
I mean what's the moral value of that story? "If you screw up in life, someone is gonna pay you out of it"? Of course it's great that the man got help, but on the other hand it should not become the norm for people to carry their debts to ebay. : /

I am always sceptical of these things. To be honest, I reckon these kind of bizarre auctions get put up and then sold to friends so that it gets publicity.
I doubt anyone would pay that much for a standard NES (Well, maybe for Tom Goldman's SUPER NES!), and I don't see why someone would chance 35k on eBay for charity?! You may as well help a few of those hundreds of genuine Nigerian transactions that get emailed every day....

Ok, so if it is genuine; First, would you trust your money to someone who has got that far into debt in the first place? Secondly, wouldn't that money be better spent with 'Cancer Research', 'British Heart Foundation', or some other genuine charity that will help MANY more people?

Hmmm, I remain sceptical.

It's possible some rich bastard felt like he needed to do something nice as opposed to the usual greed. Assuming the guy is sincere I hope he does get the money.

*looks in attic*

I have an Atari 2600, with around... ten games, two controllers and all the attachments to plug it in. We'll start the bidding at $35000.
