Hey peeps.

So I recently bought a copy of 'L.A. Noire' from a shop,(On a disc, I feel like a caveman) installed it onto my computer and hit the 'Play LA Noire!' button.

At which point it crashed, because I didn't want to install Rockstar Social Club.
So I installed RSC.

And then it said: "BEEP BOOP, GAME NOT PATCHED, MANDATORY PATCHING IN PROGESS"
And then sat there for 20 minutes making itself look pretty. Or twiddling its thumbs for all I know.

Now my problem is not the patch itself, but rather the forcing me to install it immediately when I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE F***ING GAME.

So, Escapists, how do you feel about games that make you wait an age in these enlightened times?

Patching usually means less bugs.
Ergo the chances of me enjoying the game get better when it's patched.

I can wait for a few minutes.

I have no problem with the game automatically updating. I do, however, have a problem with that goddamn Rockstar Social Club. Like I need ANOTHER program between me and my game. GWFL and RSC pissed me off so much, when all I wanted to was play GTA IV.

Did you try disconnecting your internet then launching the game? That might have let you play the game without patching.

You're right though. We should be ask whether or not we want the game to download and install the latest patch or not.

If the patches fix bugs, fine. If they remove or censor content from the original release, screw patching.

I can beat you there.

I still have RSC installed on my computer from GTA 4.
LA Noire couldn't find it.
I now have TWO RSC running on my computer.

God forbid if I get GTA 5. Maybe they'll combine to form of AI.

I don't mind patching games... Cause normally I just spent an hour or so installing it in the first place so what's another 10-20mins. I buy games on my console when I don't feel like waiting to play(Though recently this hasn't been the case due to all the stupid Cards I have to input after getting a new game. Except for Skyrim I just got to plug that in and play It made me soo fucking happy.) For the PC though i got into the habit of walking away from it while it installs/Patch. Or just browse the web while I wait.
