Read Excel Saga, it's absolutely bonkers and is all over the place with insanity.

A organization to take over the world is set into motion with 2 members under one leader, but are often beaten by their own laziness and civil servants.

Just an extra 15 points to genuine awesome, it has a kamehameha shot from a naked foot.

HAIL ILPALAZZO!

Kenshin does not have a split personality.
No, not technically. Though I can see how someone could think that when he goes into battousai mode. Samurai Deeper Kyo is more of a case of split personality though. Everything I could suggest has been said... wait *Scans list*... Ah-ha Air Gear has not been said.

OP you should read Air Gear its really good for zany action.

Off topic: Damn my plot for a group plug has been stolen by Chrome (yet again).

Well, personally, instead of more members, I'd like our current members to participate more. Seems like it's always the same people participating in the chat.

Anyway, more manga. As was said above, for swords, check out Berserk (I love this series to the high heavens) and Blade of the Immortal. Not only do they have the requisite fighting and brutality, they also feature some of the best characterization. You'll actually sympathize with their plight (Chapter 83-93 of Berserk is just the tip of the iceberg on how cruel its author can be. While that one encounter on a public road in Blade of the Immortal cements a villain's Complete Monster Status.)

For something more light-hearted, I recommend Hajime no Ippo. It follows the story of a boy starting from his highschool and his journey towards being a world champion. Another one is Great Teacher Onizuka. That one follows the story of a LEGENDARY ex-biker who suddenly finds direction in his life. It also featured a 100-man kumite of arm wrestling (that alone earns points in my book) at some point.

"Bakuman" if you don't mind the 'slice of life' genre. It's pretty much about a person who wants to be a Manga writer and is written by the same person who did Death Note. To me the premise is interesting. A mangaka (term for manga artist/writer) doing a story about a mangaka?!?! It's like Homer putting himself in the Odyssey and telling what the bard life is like! (which he does)

Hello Everybody (Hi Dr. RareDevil)
Karate/Judo/ Martial Arts
http://www.onemanga.com/Holyland/

super realistic street fighter with a good story line (its about kids on the streets not the game). styles: brawling, karate, boxing

http://www.onemanga.com/Historys_Strongest_Disciple_Kenichi/

starts of realistic (sort of) but then gets a little bit crazy (its really only 1 guy though the "elder" that does crazy impossible stunts). other than that this manga displays the most styles of fighting but focus's most on "karate, jujitsu, chinese kempo, mauy thai"

http://www.onemanga.com/Shamo/

not for the light hearted. this has a dark and heavy story line. its not "gore" but it is "ultra-violent" in some parts(especially when he gets raped in jail). styles: mainly karate but later on they show sambo, judo, BJJ, and kung fu.

http://www.onemanga.com/New_Grappler_Baki/

one of my personal favourites. baki is the "son" of the strongest man in the world and this manga is awesome. styles: karate, aiki-jujitsu, boxing, wrestling, kung fu, military fighting, and too many other obscure and exotic arts to mention. at first i really didn't like the art style but i powered through that and was rewarded with one of the best stories ever!

Shaman Warrior. Read that shit. It's Korean. It has the most amazing art and well-played action sequences I've ever seen. You will not be disappointed. Yokai out.

Death Note is really good but pretty short and though its sounds gay Fairy Tail is pretty good itself. It has alot of pretty good action and comedy and doesnt screw around with story plots about love that readers see coming from chapter 1. Its about mages bout in in the idea WoW or dungeons and dragons. I would recommend it.

Just look up random one son onemanga.com

Hello Everybody (Hi Dr. RareDevil),

I have become bored with American Comics, so i want to get back into Manga. I've already read things like dragonball, Initial D, Naruto, and other popular Manga that have made it into T.V. format (and i don't care what you feel about any of the aforementioned titles).

Basiclly i am looking for fun and exciting Manga to read.

Topics that you should consider:
Swords
Zombies
Fighting/Combat
Karate/Judo/ Martial Arts

Hell i don't even mind some girly romance stuff if it has a really good plot line.

Any help is appreciated.

^_^ Ciao
HISTORY'S STRONGEST DISCIPLE KENICHI. Possibly one of the best Martial Arts manga ever. One of my top 3's.

Akira.

it's long, the actual manga books. Thee are 6 of them I think. The film had to cut about 3-4 books out of it because it's that long.
And it's back in the days when Manga was actually good.

The 'Blade of the Immortal' Series also. It rocks.

In that area, next to the genre defining classic Dragonball, I'd superhighly recommend Samurai Deeper Kyo! The story rules. Almost as highly recommended comes Claymore :)

I would suggest Full Metal Alchemist Full Metal Panic Deathnote, and even though it's origanilly an anime they made a manga for it. Gurrenn Laggann.
Well that's a fail. FMA and Death Note were both manga originally.
Dipshit, i was saying Gurren Laggan as the anime i knew about Death Note and FMA were original mangas

Akumetsu is a must... do not read Death Note as they RUIN it at the end... and it seriously ruined the whole thing for me. Also, Until Death Do Us Part is cool.. blind guy with sword.... Bleach if you haven't yet...

Time to go through my manga collection!!!

Heres my list (in no particular order):

Switch
Tsubasa
Genshiken
Psychic academy
Dramacon
Megatokyo
Aoi House
Q Ko Chan
Hell Girl

And thats all for now.

Now, any of the clamp mangas are good, but some are better than others based on your personal tastes. Q ko chan is basically the spiritual sequal to FLCL im told, I havent read it yet.
