Mass effect 3....
Katawa Shoujo - Hanako and Emi
I know there are more but I can't think of them at this point
when I played shadow of the colossus I was too young to understand much of the sad parts I just saw at some guy being badass and taking down giants.
I missed 2/3 of that game

The good ending of inFamous 2.
Just... wow.

The Walking Dead Episode 5
Ben snapping at Kenny about not knowing what happened to his family and then Kenny sacrificing himself and using his last bullet to make sure that Ben wouldn't suffer by getting eaten alive by walkers. Then there was the whole soul crushing ending... poor Clem.

A couple parts in Mass Effect 3
Mordin sacrificing himself to cure the Genophoge and Legion sacrificing itself.

Mass Effect 2... when Tali finds her father.

Mass Effect... the conversation with Vigil. That damned music gets me every time.

Final Fantasy VI... the Opera and ending.

Okami...
the final battle when Amaterasu gets her powers back thanks to Issun.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Midna shattering the mirror as she goes back to the Twilight realm.

The cliff scenes in Mega Man X 1-3(when I was a kid). It's such a shame they got rid of those in the later games in the series.

I've shed many a manly tear during my life as a gamer, mostly over RPGs.

I've teared up at moments in each of the Mass Effect games and a few times over the course of Dragon Age: Origins. Also, bits from MGS3 (the ending!!!) and MGS4 made me mist up.

I've never actually cried while playing a game, no. But moments that have definitely shocked me or left me feeling a bit bitter were in Red Dead Redemption, and the ending of Mafia 2. Made me just feel a bit wrong about the outcomes of it, although in Mafia 2 it was part of the whole "crime does not pay" message going on, starting from about 70% thru the game.

Sounds like I really should give this Walking Dead game a crack though, heard so many good things about it (including comments on the Jimquisition)

Sure. Ugh... let me see, Infamous 2 comes to mind. The ending is a punch in the gut for both good and evil side.

Manly Tears? Methinks not, but FFXIII-2 had me bawling last night. Not even my first playthrough either!

New Bodhum 700af - I watched the paradox ending, where Serah stays with Lightning Snow and co. and is "happy ever after yada yada yada" then went back and did it "properly" - suddenly it hit me that instead of a future where she's contented and surrounded by family and friends, she is. going. to. die. And then Vanille being all supportive, and then you see her with Fang, and then all the stuff with Noel, Yeul & Caius and... and... I was a mess. Proper mess. Sodding soundtrack didn't help, either!!!

I usually have a box of tissues handy whenever playing FF games now. FFVIII, IX, X, X-2 and now XIII-2... as well as Kingdom Hearts have all left me sobbing at some point or other. Advent Children did too, but NOT VII. Go figure.
Mass Effect got me in a couple of places, as has Assassin's Creed.

Captcha is a heartless barsteward "good riddance" - FOR SHAME!!!

A few games have made me shed a manly tear like the endings to dragon age and infamous 2's good ending.... man that was intense. However the mass effect series has made me emotional several times, particularly mass effect 3's ending. Now before I ignite a war hear me out. As I sat back and watched the credits roll I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that Shepard's story has (probably) come to a close. Playing out all those epic moments and creating relationships with lovable characters such as Garrus (that guy is awesome)I didn't want that to end.

Just bought walking dead as well, based on previous comments I'm in for a good one!

Harry and the Henderson's, where John Lithgow's character is confronting LeFleur. Telling him to stop chasing after Harry and that he's wrong to think him an animal. And LeFleur just rebuffing him, saying he'll never stop and then John start's slamming him harder and harder into the car he's got him pinned against. Yelling louder and louder "I won't let you! I'LL KILL YOU FIRST!" and Harry stops him. And LeFleur quivering begs them not to let Harry kill him and Harry just give's him a huge hug. I know it's a silly movie but right now it's making me misty eyed just remembering the scene.

EDIT: Bah I don't care, I can't remember the last game to make me tear up really. I know they are out there, hell closest was the Extended Cut ending of
Synthesis
from Mass Effect 3.

Halo Reach ending, with the first words to Halo...

I had a bit of a nostalgia-gasm combined with a "I'm gonna miss you guys (Bungie)" reaction.

Walking Dead would be the saddest game of all time, if it wasn't for To The Moon. The former is more harrowing and emotionally depleting, the latter is more profound and moving. I highly recommend both, but keep your hanky handy.

I've said this before and I'll say it again,

I dare anyone who has played Ace Combat 5 to replay this mission and notcry.

There's also this one mission at the end where everyone...
fucking ninja'd on the OP...

Also any of the deaths in Mass Effect 3/

Honestly? The only game to actually make me tear up is Infamous 2, either ending. Though I think the evil ending is slightly sadder, because it incorporates gameplay.

Despite my gender making "manly tears" kinda impossible, I've still got a good answer to this question.

Note: I am usually infamously difficult to make cry: I don't cry during movies, games, books, anything.

But Lost Odyssey. Man. Particularly...

When Kaim's daughter dies. Mostly because of the little kids' reaction. I was playing through this part a little less than a month after my father had died, so it hit me hard.

The Ace Combat series probably has the best cutscenes of any video game. (Kane from C&C making speeches notwithstanding).

I've three videos from two of the games in the spoiler. First one is just a lead in to the second. The second which jerks some tears.
But that third one... To build your own tomb...

These games. Storytelling at it's finest.

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Ace Combat Zero: the Belkan War

And the Belkan's sealed their own tomb. Declaring the land to the north as The Holy Land of Belka. How they could condem their own nation, their own people to isolation... one has to wonder that... are there other demon's than just Razgriz in this world.

2023 - Tiger Sora's reflection on the 1995 Belkan War.

I'll confess, I've never come close to crying for a game. I just don't cry much in general. But two moments that caught me off-guard were:

Red Dead Redemption's ending.

DE:HR "Thanks, spy boy".

All you need to know.

The closest I came to misting up during a game was during the final missions of ME3. That last stand preparing the missiles and that final charge through molten metal reaper beams really got me emotionally high. Last stands really get me going. I wanted to cry at the badassery and the sacrifice the characters were making. I felt their fear, sadness, anxiety, etc. Closest I ever came to misting up.

Any gender can have "manly tears", they just have to completely remove all emotion from the face, have some kind of natural hostility in the eyes, and have the tears stream out unnoticed by the tear streamer. :D :p
