I was sitting there just thinking to myself
"Oh my god, it looks like she's going to die. This episode is totally building up to it. They can't do that. She's the main character. That's cruel."
Then, when she'd just given birth.
"Look: She's alive. She's just tired. Everyone's tired after giving birth. No! Why is she falling asleep. Okay, it's a feint. It has to be."
And then, as Tomoya sits there holding Ushio, it's dawning on me.
I sit there, watching. Shocked. And I follow Tomoya in the next few episodes.

A few episodes pass, and I go on with my life. But suddenly something changes. Tomoya confronts reality, and the tension is building.
As this song plays, it all appears to peak.
And there I sit. Afterwards. I had endured it. Everything was alright. They were on the train home now. I was strong. Not even their reunion could break me.
I got through it. It was over. Kyoani had stopped putting me through this...

"...That was what mommy was like.
And...
Mommy... Mommy was...
Nagisa..."

And as those lines break through what little remaining mental guard I have, bringing the full emotional impact of the entire series upon me, everything the dyke I had constructed in my heart was holding back came crashing over me. And try as I might to hold it back; a solitary tear runs down my cheek.

Clannad is the only story - fictional or real - which has managed to have such an impact on me.

Dammit, now you've got me going again :'(

Oh and I thought of another one. The end of His Dark Materials Trilogy.

When Lyra and Will found out they had to live in seperate worlds and close every portal except for the one in the World of the Dead I just lost it. I was honestly expecting them to get their happy ending. But no, Philip Pullman just had to go and destroy all my hope and dreams. When Lyra left Pantalaimon on the shore of the river when she went to the Land Of The Dead was pretty heartbreaking too.

Only books to ever make me lose it, not even Harry Potter got me crying. Because, as awesome as magic is, who has read those books and not wished they had a daemon.

I...uh, don't really remember if I did. The only thing that I've seen that made me sad was Elfen Lied, around, er, four years ago? It's not because I don't cry, if I get hurt I bawl like a little *****, but I'm not often emotionally moved. Well, when I enter a store and see that none of the Twix bars are bought, I may shed a tear or two.

Whenever I feel sad (Or any emotion really) when watching a show, I just remember that it's all acted out and scripted. Then I'm like, Ah to hell with this. Bring on the murder and rape!

Side note: I had a mouse trap snap my finger today. I sobbed for a good five minutes...

I never was a big fan of Harry Potter, I haven't read any of the books and never watched any of the movies. But Snape's death and his role in the whole story, kinda hit me unprepared.

I found his death, had much more impact than those "cheap" deaths in Bambi and Lion king. Although both scenes got me, when I was little, but I guess you can't call them manly tear...

I cannot say I have ever shed a manly tear, ever. I simply wimp out and cry tidal waves.

No, I can recall One time, and it's not sad at all (This whole post can't be sad, right?)

It's the very Ending of Giorgio Moroder's Metropolis, which is basically the whole original movie done with Music producer Giorgio Moroder creating an All 80s music score with Queen, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Raitt.

The last scene in the movie makes it less of a warning about the future and shoots more for a love story (at least to me), especially when you hear this song.

The clips from the movie that use this particular song, as a whole, make me shed a man tear every time I watch it, but remember, I eventually devolve into tidal waves thereafter.

Also to highlight for manly tears: The ending of Mary and Max, which you should go watch the whole movie, don't look it up divorced from the entire movie, it won't hit you near as hard without context.

Lion King, not as a kid though, I was always in denial Mufasa was really dead, and before it had time to sink in they took my attention away. When I saw it with my younger sister I started bawling up at the thought

American Beauty also made me cry, and made me a Kevin Spacey fan oddly enough.

Carl Sagan makes me cry when I'm stoned and know one is around, dunno if that counts.

Yes, that part where he's giving the toys away. The furnace scene didn't scare me, I knew it wouldn't end that way, but Andy being a big kid and not wanting to get rid of Woody, christ I couldn't help it

This part was messed up because I was watching the show on netflix and that exact episode was mixed up, they just had the previous one over, so I start off the next episode with KAMINA IS DEAD. I'm just like..... WHAT!!! Had to go and find the scene off youtube.

Many things cause my (probably less than) manly tears to sprout forth. One thing that I still can't get over is the point in The Fox and The Hound when the lady had to set her pet fox free in the nature reserve.

When I was a kid I had to leave the room, now I still cry, but I take it like a man.

I cried when Thor doesn't ever get to see Natalie Portman ever again, because the Rainbow Bridge was destroyed! He doesn't ever get to see her naked!

Except that he totally will get to see her again, since the avengers isnt much later in the timeline. Add to that, the Asgardians BUILT the bifrost, and there is no reason they can't do it again. It might TAKE a while, but its not impossible. The movie was silly.
