[blockquote]And I'm gonna f*cking make that game again if it kills me[/blockquote]

And with any luck, it will kill him.

... Who?

I'll go with an analogy: Someone who not only knows squat about art but disses artists as stuck-up twits in their own little world, tries to make drawing and sell them off in a convention. Are people going to take him seriously?

What? Getting Up? But I've never even heard of it, let alo...oh, I see now [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getting_Up#Controversy_in_Australia].

I really don't care much to practice my in-game graffitiing (or my out-of-game skills, for that matter), but if there's a market for it (which there always is) then I don't see why not. The guy sounds like a douche, but at least he'll stand up for what he believes in. To blame the appeal of a game solely on the code is perhaps just a little closed-minded though...

Would this be a bad time to announce the sequel to my nonexistant game?
Waking Up 2: Oh god, I overslept!

I don't know what Getting Up actually is, sounds like Parkour, but if I see a copy next time I'm in Game I'll remember to point and laugh at it.

Getting Up was actually a really interesting game, but then again I have always been fascinated by graffiti artists. The whole thing was just a gushing love letter to graffiti culture.

No doubt part of the problem was using obscure slang for your title; as evidenced by this thread no one knows what the hell 'getting up' means. That and also the mediocre gameplay. So if he can get a sequel out with a more polished design, I'd be happy.

There was an article on some web site a while ago about how gamers are idiots for liking Beyond Good & Evil when Getting Up was obviously a more impressive artistic statement.

Whatever. I enjoyed playing BG&E while Getting Up looks like it is about as much fun to play with as dog shit.

Well I played Getting Up, and I actually really liked it. If they can nail a sequel it could be really good, as long as it's not exactly the same as the first.
that didnt stop halo 2 from selling

What exactly is it that Marc Ecko did to make him so rich? Did he sell his soul? Ah well who knows.

Personally I don't care, I remember watching a friend of mine playing it. And with in 10 mins it got very dull.

I have never played "Getting Up" but is it really that bad?
I absolutely loved it. And I don't care who knows it. I thought the concept was really original (if you ignore Jet Grind Radio for a moment).

Roll on Getting Up 2.

Getting up: Under pressure, sounds like the logo for a Viagra ad.

But who knows maybe it'll be good.
I laughed. Maybe someone should make a H-game called "Getting it up: A mid-life crisis" I seriously think there should be parody titles for H-games like there are for movies and porn.

Ok, I've never heard of this guy or his game. Is it really bad enough that we need to make theology analogies?

Oh, posh. He can make all the cute little games he wants.

Meanwhile, I'll be playing something of quality made by someone who doesn't hate me over here.

Getting up was bad in some places (crappy graphics, stupid stealth),but for some reason,i've replayed it 4-5 times. Combat system was fairly original,as was platforming. Plus, whole "graffiti artist kicking establishment's arse" thing was pretty new for gaming.

On one hand, you have to admire his determination. Most people would avoid making a game that loses money for both the developers and publishers, but he's dedicated to making it happen (somehow). On the other hand, it's just another game that's going to be ignored and forgotten about in a year or so, just like the first "Getting Up."
