Twilight. Justin Bieber. Miley Cyrus. Lindsay Lohan. Paris Hilton. High School Musical.

These things make me so angry I could breath fire and shoot lazers from my eyes. The rate at which ten second fads come and go these days is absolutely fucking incredible, it's like theres not even such a thing as an attention span anymore. The music industry is particularly guilty of this (Justin Bieber is popular and Taking Dawn isnt even on the fucking TV? Give me a break!)

Tweenagers, for the most part, make shit things popular. If crap like Twilight can get published, then ANYONE can be an author. If Kevin Rudolf can sing overandoverandoverandoverandover again about how he "made it" despite nobody really knowing or giving a shit about HOW he "made it" then ANY retard with access to a voice synthesizer can break the music industry.

I know I'm not the only one to think about doing it, but since its plainly obvious that being popular today does not nessacarily involve talent, how would YOU market to Tweenagers?

What utterly vapid, half-assed piece of media would you push out to the masses so you could rake in the cash while humankinds IQ drops a few points permenantly? A book? A song?

Well, it's simply a fact of life that things that arn't nessecarrily good will become popular, which will then cause a snowball effect of people making shit that they know will be popular despite it's shittiness. It's just another way of making money. It doesn't really faze me either way... they'll have their 30 seconds of fame and then fade back to obscurity.

...So what were we suposed to discuss? What would I do to sell stuff to them? Just say it's good and spend alot of money or advertising should do the job.

I couldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to live with myself, becoming everything I've ever hated.

I might release a movie in order to get into 'that' circle so I'd be in a good position to destroy it from within... one piece of shit to put an end to the shit-storm? Sounds alright to me.

Yeah, I get so angry over things that 14 year olds like.

Seriously dude, you don't like it, you don't have to like it and in fact, you're not meant to like it. Very easy to ignore.

It doesnt really bother me that much. As I said about Mr GaGa, I'm fine with it as long as its not being forced down my throat every 30 minutes.

But I do understand your frustration on how certain things can become a massive raving success, even if its only sub-par at best.

Make really simple music with sufficiently stupid lyrics that make no sense. Repeat a few chords over and over again, since as high pitched a possible, and ta daaa! I'd be rich.

I see no difference. Remember Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys? Oh, but those were cool because you were probably a tweenager yourself back then.
I have it on good authority that the Backstreet Boys are excellent, my Mother thinks so.

The Jonas Brothers fucking get me every time, they not only manufactured a band, but Disney managed to somehow manufacture the fanbase

I think we should all be happy about it. Imagine your favorite indie band becoming popular because of sheer talent. All those tweenagers would be listening to the same music you're listening to and ruining it altogether.

We should be glad to get to ***** about their music and still have our good music to show for it.

I've got ADHD, for me there isn't. :)
Everyone has ADHD. I will never understand how "having no interest in things that don't interest you" is a mental disorder.
Its easier for adults (be it parents, guardians or teachers) to label kids they can control as having some sort of deficiency, it eases the guilt for them of being useless.

"Its not my fault"

You can thank the "Blameless Bob" society we have.

This kind of thing always happens. I remember when I was a kid the only fad that lasted a good amount of time was Pokemon. And Pokemon is not a normal fad. It's one of the few fads that is a fad for a reason

Edit: O, right, the topic...
I'd say a video game. Seems like something I'd do.

A novel seems like something I would send out to the masses, as I enjoy writing and may write one sometime anyways.

It's a stick... that you shove right up your bum. Why would they do this? Well, considering everything else since the dawn of time... I figure the stick has earned its shot.

These are aimed more towards teenage girls. Being a teenager myself I don't see why they are so great, but there's something appealing that drives girls from liking it to total obsession.

Would drugs count for this question?

Singing is easy if you can remember the tune. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcmrVbBROcw&feature=related]

Actually, I believe the rant is over the volume; not the quality. Every generation has their crap fads, avocado green anybody, but I will have to agree that the "entertainment" industry has given up the shovel and went for the excavator. Then again, perhaps we've all glossed over the painful memories from our childhood and there was a large amount of genuine crap out there.

I was a tweenager when they were popular...And I thought they were absolute shite. I was enjoying listening to the Beatles at the time.

But I agree with the OP. Things nowadays are either bland, boring, or outright intellectually insulting (Hannah Monatana, I'm looking at you for that one.)

Although believe it or not, I did enjoy the songs in High School Musical.
