2 things.
1. Deadpool is awesome and It's kl how many people have realized this.
2. I don't like Superman at all because he is invincible and this means you know exactly how something is going to turn out (Superman will win unless the villain has this one type of rock and even then is only really weakened until he beats them up and puts them in prison till they break out again). I don't like any character who can't die at least with Deadpool if he gets ripped apart, you can have fun reading about it before he's back, Superman doesn't even have that.

Personally DC but mostly DC circa 1986 when it started to read a bit more like proper science fiction rather than completely fantastical.
Some of the more recent books have gone back and made it silly again, but i'll always prefer DC.

As for Superman being overpowered; at least he's not as overpowered as he was pre crisis 1985
where he could run and fly faster than time, his clothes were invulnerable and one of his powers was "super intelligence"

Neither! Dark Horse is where it's at. Their one of few comic brands that aren't afraid of taking risks and are careful with their properties.

They've got Hellboy, Sin City, 300, The Escapist, Army of Darkness, Conan, Buffy, Ghost in the Shell, The Umbrella Academy, and Star Wars.

well, seeing as my favorite superhero is Ghost Rider, who happens to be a marvel character, I have no choice but to say Marvel.

But they're both great comic book companies and any opinion in this aspect has a good point.

Marvel. Marvel just seems more...coherent. It seems like Marvel has a few outlandish rules of reality, and then sticks to them, where DC feels more like they throw together a bunch of wacky stuff, and then strain to make it all fit. Marvel feels like the characters are more people with special powers, and less abstract, larger then life concepts that happen to associated with a physical body. Batman is pretty much DCs reprieve.

It's worth noting that I mainly think of Ultimate X Men when I think of Marvel.

it's like my capcom vs konami .... the only reason i still can't decide is because of the MGS series .. i literally have nothing on konamis side apart from that ..... but the series is so damned epic that it stands alone against everything capcom has done to earn my fandom

I don't really read either of their comics, but DC seems to have a bit more fantasical, while Marvel is a bit more..... I don't know, I don't want to say dark or realistic, but more..... down to earth maybe?

Anyway, Marvel certainly holds more appeal for me, even if I can't quite explain why

I grew up reading both companies comics. It was amazing, it was spectacular. it was my childhood.

But...I do like Ultimate spiderman more then I like anyone else in the Ultimate Universe heh.

DC have no good superheroes (apart from Batman obviously) and only a handful of decent super villains, The Joker, The Riddler.. etc...

Can I ask if you've ever actually read any DC comics? I used to feel the same until I started reading them, and realized what an interesting cast they actually have. There are obvious cases, like Superman, who we tend to think of as being more of a superpowered boyscout than an interesting character, but once you actually read some good Superman comics you find that he's really a much more engaging character than our perceptions of him might lead us to believe. Is he overpowered? I'm not going to say that he's not, but the best writers tend to craft stories in which that element of being overpowered is actually his weakness (check out the TPB for Superman: Sacrifice [written by Geoff Johns] if you don't believe me). He's a deontologically motivated character, and that leads those who don't think about the complexities that role can bring to dismiss him, but there really a lot more there than most people realize, because often his biggest conflicts are internal. I don't have time to get into what an incredible character Wonder Woman is (though you could check out Movie Bob's Big Picture episode about her if you wanted to see some more interesting parts of her history), she also plays a really interesting role in Superman: Sacrifice as well. I would also advocate for Green Lantern (specifically Hal Jordan and John Stewart), as interesting characters, especially in that they work well as foils to Batman.

Speaking of Batman, after I started reading DC comics, I eventually came to feel that Batman is actually one of the more boring characters from the DC universe. Like any of their characters the right writer can make all the difference, but more often than not he's just kind of a stiff board of a character who uses being dark and mysterious in place of having actual character, and ironically enough is not that different from Sinestro [Green Lantern's nemesis] in his approach to crime fighting (only stopping short of actually being Sinestro in that he doesn't kill).

I'm not going to say that DC is better. I tend to read DC more than Marvel, but the idea that you could dismiss either of these big companies is kind of ridiculous. They've both got intricate complex histories with a pantheon of characters (some more unique than others, granted), and I feel like if you just write one or the other off, you miss the opportunity to experience some really good stories.

you dont read many comics.
both studios are equally good, i used to think DC had no good heros and marvel had no good villians until i expanded my reading.

Tough choice, I like the Marvel characters with the glaring exception of wolverine (he is the marvel superman as far as I am concerned)
However I like the DC movies better lately, and they don't have bad characters (with the exception of Superman who is the DC superman as far as I'm concerned)

How to break this tie.....well the girl I like likes DC, so I'm going to go with marvel...wow that was an easy choice

When I think about it, it is really tough. Marvel have Doctor Strange, Kraven the Hunter (Another plug for Kraven's Last Hunt the best Spiderman story of all-time), and Captain America/Isaiah Bradley. DC have Suicide Squad (Dr Amanda Waller, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Count Vertigo, Ravan, Bronze Tiger, The Writer) Doom Patrol (Grant Morrison's run), The Creeper, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Swamp-Thing, Monsieur Mallah and the Brain. On second thought this is easy.

I enjoy DC more as an active universe full of characters and heroes.

This sounds interesting! I'll have to check it out. I lost track of Swamp Thing right around the time he had a daughter that could manipulate flesh the way he could manipulate vegetation.

I go with Marvel. DC titles tend to bore me. Of my 40 something comics in my pull list at my local comic shop, only Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman and Power Girl make my list of interesting characters. Weird how my favorite books all focus on characters with boobs...but that's not why I read them. For me they are just the most interesting. Marvel has some really great writers/characters going for them far as I'm concerned.
